There is also supposed to be a ghost aboard USS North Carolina as well. Saw it on Sci-Fi's "Ghost Hunter's"

I would have volunteered just to get into those off limits areas of the ship! [:D]

Did anyone ever see "SCARIEST PLACES ON EARTH" on DISCOVERY CHANNEL...

The Queen Mary was on this series they took a film crew on board where its docked at LONGBEACH.

They reckon it 1942 when it was carrying troops across the atlantic a replenishment ship they identified as HMS CAROSELLE cut across the bow of the Queen and she cut her in half. Hundreds of men died instantly.. half of them died in their bunks still asleep. They were the lucky ones[X(]. The rest were sucked under the Queen and chewed up by her massive screws.

To sum up...the tv crew were taken 50 feet below the water line in the bow of the ship were it struck the CAROSELLE. They saw and heard nothing odd until they took the tape back to the studio, where they heard something incredible........the screams of hundreds of men in the water who have realised they are about to die, and you can just make out what they realised was the collision horn going off in the background!![X(]

Ghost Hunters did an episode aboard the Queen mary. They initially thought they'd found some evidence of spirits when a video caught a bedsheet (in a cabin reputed to have lots of paranormal activity) being rolled off by itself. however a glitch in the video made them suspect it was a hoax.

the North carolina episode was "more convincing" as they got an audio blurb of someone speaking about "The Ship" but neither investigator spoke the words. they also chased a shadow into a dead end but found nothing which shook them up a bit as they suspected someone might be pranking them but couldn't figure out how the perpetrator could have eluded them. The caretaker is convinced there's activity aboard the old battleship.

It is in Wilmington N.C. - the only ship I have been aboard.

Yes.

Berthed IIRC, in Raleigh, North Carolina.

She's one of 5 active USN battleship museums.

USS Missouri - Pearl Harbor
USS Texas - Houston, TX
USS Massachussetts - Boston, MA
USS Alabama - ?, AL

Without a google, not sure on USS New Jersey's status yet. She's slated to be a mem. ship as are probably all the Iowa class.

The gem of the lot is Texas IMHO....last BB survivor of the "Dreadnought" era and a unique specimen. I most enjoyed visiting her. (even though i nearly got thrown off the ship)

Google local shows the USS Missouri and the USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor pretty clearly. The USS Utah is visible on the other side of Ford Island also.

Goes without saying that all 3 are worth a visit.
I'm essentially graphically and history oriented, unfortunately to connect the two I have to do maths. I hate maths.

The Utah memorial is not yet accessible to the general public (because Ford island remains restricted) However i scored a lucky break on my trip to PH as they were conducting a special harbor tour which circled Ford island and took us right alongside the Utah's remains. Got some killer photos of her.

That's a big Negative, Curty!

The USS Midway is now an sea/aerospace museam docked permanently here in San Diego! It has been here about two years now, I think. You may have seen it when it was being prepared for her retired life....

The USS North Carolina is berthed in Wilmington, NC. Raleigh is much too far upstream for a ship of that size... (just didn't want anyone to go to the wrong location...)
fair winds,
