Airborne parachute troops

Post by derhexer »

I've started back playing WiTP for the all the scenarios that didn't make it to Witp AE. I'm in June, 1944, playing the allied player, and wondering how to use those parachute and glider regiments.

So, how can I use the parachute and glider units as airborne troops? What are the rules for using troop transports? How many transport/regiment?

You need to have the para unit and a transport aircraft unit at the same base. Set the transport unit on transport, select the para unit then set the destination to any hex w/i the range of the transport

Well, actually the game is designed to land at any BASE in range... you can try landing at a non-base hex, but the results tend to be unpredictable.

OK, maybe I wasn't clear. How many transport planes will it take to carry 1 airborne regiment? I know there was some discussion about this several years ago, but I can't find it.

To put another way, how can I calculate the number of transports I'll need?
