Allied opponent? (CLOSED)

Post by kmitahj »

Looking for an opponent for Classic WitP grand campaign. I know it is not easy task to find somebody willing to play old WitP these days however I hope it is worth to try here.

Ideally I'd like to find an oppoenet with persistent interest for long term game (I'd like finally to reach 1944/45 in game) and not easily distracted by possible temporary defeats.
I can handle 1 turn every other day on long term average though there will be periods when I will be able to deliver up to 1 turn/day.
I'm open for negotiation of HRs and any other details. One thing to be said befoehand is that I would strongly prefer modded campaign (BigB, CHS etc.) instead of stock one.

Doing a turn every other day will take forever and a day.  You might want to consider 2 or 3 day turns so that things move along.

I'd give you a go, but I'm playing the Allies in 2 games.  1 of the AAR and another as a multi player game.  I also just started a game as the Japanese.

I never thought that doing an AAR would be so time consuming and difficult.

Thanks for the reply. Pity you busy but that is life.

Yeah, it will take long time and that is why I would prefer an opponent with some WitP/UV experience (which means he already knows what he is going into) and who is rather fun then victory oriented. It must be (kind of) fun to crunch a turn after a turn, day by day otherwise it won't work. Not for long at least.

Don't have experience with two-day turns. They seem to be great time-saver in lull periods but may be less then ideal when things are going hot. Still if other side request it I think I will be ready to give it a try. Could be interesting twist in the game.
In fact it is a pity it's not possible to change turn length on the fly in PBEM games!

Maybe being retired is presenting me with almost enough time to do all the RL things and I make the time for gaming.  [;)]

Persistence is (supposedly) a virtue...

..so I keep trying [:)]

In addition to original offer (which is still open) I'm looking for somebody willing to take over a game and play as Japanese admiral. The game in question is in very early phase (still in December 41).
It is CHS 157 scenario with two-day turns. Nothing special happened in the game yet, there were few minor setbacks for Japan in land warfare on Luzon and in HK-Canton area but certainly nothing which could change the course of the game. The reason my opponent quits so early is his disappointment with that CHS variant, in particular with its bloodless air combat results. Neverthless he promised to provide his password to anybody willing to take over. Its my first game as Allies and first with two-day turns and I found it very interesting hence willing to continue. Especially playing from the other side was eye-opening experience [:)]

Regarding tempo of play I can slightly raise a bar and offer safely at least 5 turns/week which together with 2-day turns should look more reasonable.
