Air Land and Sea: Axis

Post by gwgardner »

Ok, I'm going to try something a bit different this time around as the Axis. Immediately I am shifting my armor, mech, and air to the West. I hope to attack into France on turn three, through Luxembourg.

Already on turn two I see two British divisions around Metz, so the Western Allies are starting to build that wall to the sea which will be so hard to break through later on.

JJdenver and Bluemax have convinced me that an early strike on the USSR has a chance of succeeding, so France, Gibraltar, Yugoslavia and Greece must be dealt with before the Russians have a chance to build up their defenses too much.

I have to reread the forum to remember if General Winter only occurs in 41, and when Partisan activity on the steppes begins. If those two factors permit, I'd like to launch Barbarossa by Sept. '40. Otherwise, I'll have to wait till April, '41.

Also doing something different with Italy. This time around Italy is not going to be the playtoy of Germany, but will pursue Italian objectives, i.e. holding on to North Africa! If the Germans come calling for an Italian expeditionary force for Russia, forget it.

My something a bit different was a bit of a failure. The attack on France went on well until I became too aggressive, giving the French army a chance to cut off my entire armored and part of my mechanized force, and in a last ditch effort to extract them, the Luftwaffe was dealt a crushing blow by the Royal Air Force. In the rushed attack upon France, the Polish campaign was botched also, with Warsaw still held by the Poles in February!

The German war machine being decapitated, the High Command found the will to decapitate the political heirarchy, and declared hostilities at an end.

Change the name of this AAR to 'how not lose in the shortest amount of time.'

[my apoligies to cpdeyoung and chocolino for an abortive effort, albeit one in which Chuck's play was spot on, and Cornel's play was looking to be quite innovative.]
