Playing time

Post by blastpop »

What is the playing time for the various scenarios- I'm sure the tutorials are short. How long does it take to complete the more complex scenarios? Just trying to get a feel for the playing time. How many scenarios are meaty vs the smaller variety?

Thanks!

blastpop,

The length of the scenarios is pretty much proportional to the total number of units in the fight. The tutorials can be run through in 5-15 minutes (depending on options-there is a delay setting to speed up or slow down messages, speed up animations, etc). Some of the larger scenarios can last a 2-4+ hours depending on those settings. Of course you can always save the game and come back to it later. The 17 scenarios they are pretty well distributed size/time wise. You can also make you own scenarios to suit your size of battle needs and time constraints.

I find that the playing time is affected by the delays and animations during playback of the turn. While giving orders and checking terrain and LOS will take some time until you're familiar with the map, I find that I rarely need that much time for it. Especially when being on the defense, though the initial setup can take quite some time.

The playing time sounds reasonable- The game length also gives me the indication it isn't that difficult to play.

I like the meaty scenarios since I'm a Grognard. Sounds like that once one has some experience it shouldn't be too hard to knock one off.

Even the "smaller" scenarios can prove to have the greater challenge factor in some case depending on the side you play.

I hope enjoy them all.
