Harpoon ANW on Vista

Just got a new PC with Vista . Harpoon ANW does not run .
Does anybody have any ideas or suggestions ?
I am long term Harpooner and beginning to go through withdrawal .
My wife will start to suggest a 12 step program if I don't get my fix.

How can I make Harpoon run on Vista?

Can you be more specific on exactly what will or won't happen?

Apparently, a fair number of players have Vista and report that it runs without any problems. I don't run Vista, myself. I have heard a few things that might help you, though.

When installing ANW, you need Administrator access.

Also, you might try installing ANW to a folder outside of your Programs folder. From what I've heard, programs installed to the Programs folder require more authentication. So, just put it in C:\Matrix Games\ANW

Thank you for the reply. It is very good to be back, indeed.

This is the path I am using . As you can see it is not installed in games.

"C:\Matrix Games\Harpoon 3 Advanced Naval Warfare"

This is the message returned

"harpoon3.exe has stopped working."

"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"


Any ideas?

I use Vista Home Premium Edition and have no problems with ANW.

One thing important: Do NOT install ANW in the programs folder.

Maybe you´re using an expired beta from that website?

You should use the latest release version, 3.9.3. The next version 3.9.4 will come out soon, I guess. Those different 3.9.4 betas are all expired.
