Delta3D DLLs

Post by RedMike »

My current patched in sequence H3ANW 3.9.4 has something like 92 DLLs in the main game folder.

Are they to do with Delta3D ?

There is no Delta3D sub-folder at all. Do I need all these blasted DLLs ??

What is Delta3D for ? If it's necessary, why doesn't the latest comprehensive patch install it ?

Can you provide a folder inventory of what is supposed to be in the main game folder please ?

I would like to clean house if possible.

I removed all mysterious looking dynamic link libraries from my harpoon folder. Game seems to run fine. So, are any of these needed ? Or are they superfluous to harpoon ? How the hell did they get in the installer if they are superfluous ??

Howdy guys,

The Delta3d DLLs are used by the Harpoon Media Viewer. If you don't use that, removing the files will not affect anything.

Putting the DLLs in another directory would slow the load time and require changing system settings. Not a great option.

Man I hate that viewer!

I use the old one, works in game. The fancy new viewer doesn't work right. It dumps you to the desktop, loads a blank. You have to jockey back into harpoon and re-click on the picture button, get sent back out to the desktop, and if your lucky the picture even exists, you might see it. Else you get a second look at a blank.

My advise is stick with the in-game original viewer.

I agree to a point. It doesn't work well when the game is ran in full screen viewing mode. I'll consider defaulting to the internal viewer for that mode in the next release.

Running in a reduced window may not even be an option especially in MP since you can get:
[blockquote]Crash server while starting MP game

Scenario and server will crash after 30 seconds
[/blockquote]

That's a good point I guess, forgot about windowed mode. Never use it. Still prefer the in-game viewer.

How about setting it up as optional setting for the user either through a new check box on the Config Launcher (my preference), or through the use of an *.OPT file?

Trying to tell the user to switch back and forth with the current regsvr32 command (tm.asp?m=1920947) is a losing proposition given the level of technical aptitude for many users. [:(]

Wasn't going to keep suggesting users use the regsvr32 command but I was going to offer some .bat files to do the same command.

We're looking at updating the launcher so that would be the best option in my mind as well. An .opt file would be second.

Thanks,
