A game with lots of potential...

It's just unfortunate it was released unfinished. I had tried to play it stock but soon found out it's almost unplayable. It's not the few bugs that bother me though, it's the wacky enemies stats, weapon balance and the availability of everything... It just seem like the devs did not try their own game before releasing it.

Anyway, now i feel compelled to mod it so i can actually enjoy it. It's sad but i may end up spoiling part of the fun of discovering things playing it...

First thing that bug me is the enemy's stats : Everyone is a cousin of Hercule or Mr Universe. It's easy to fix (but quite a job if i want STR values that makes sense), but it's not the only thing wrong with enemies and NPCs. Well, i started working on this...

Second thing is the weapons... Well, i'm no expert but i know a few things about guns and the stats there seem a bit messed up. It's a game i know, but a stats closer to the real life things would increase the immertion to the game, as well as make things more intuitive. Of course the problem is the huge number of weapons (even more with Hired Guns Reinforced) and the more or less accurate infos i can find on the net. Anyway, i believe it could be a cool project to do, especially if several modders pooled their efforts on this.

Speaking of weapons, there are a few that i feel are missing. We have plenty of firearms, but very few melee weapons. Well, it's not Fallout, there is no need for all kind of wacky and exotic melee weapons, but at least bring some that are common in Africa, like machette or hand axe (notorious in tribe genocide). Also, there is room for more grenades, especially when we had so many to play with in JA2...

Edit : I noticed there are a lot of weapon animations that are unused, weapons that have not been implemented yet.

After a few days of messing around, i'm almost done making a playable mod. I rebalanced the weapons (trying to make them closer to real world performances), adjusted people's stats, added a few missing weapons and their infos, fixed the stupid-over-the-top ragdoll effect... I'm currently fixing the loadout of everyone in the game (adding or removing stuff), but that may take a while to do everything i plan there. The sad part is i modded a lot of things without keeping track of it, so it may take a while to make a proper list of the changes. Anyway, i hope to get it finished soon so i can actually play the game without all the glitches...
