TIGER TEAMS

Post by wegman58 »

I just fired up the game for the first time in 2015 - the Tiger Team thing seems interesting, but more often than not unrealistic.

Apollo 13 - the tiger team did wonderful things over a period of days. HOWEVER, when the event is in boost or re-entry I don't think there is any time for the Tiger Team to do anything.

OR does this represent retroactive 20/20 hindsight and simulate spending time on a problem issue BEFORE it breaks?

I think John Glenns mission(Friendship 7?) is relevant here, they(mission control) had to discuss what to do about the potential for the heatshield loosening at retro jettison/leaving booster package being on while re entering, in the end they chose to keep the booster package attached and it eventually fell off naturally(due to re entry heat) anyway but the capsule survived potentially due to their diversion from the mission plan(retro rocket jettison).

This is what i imagine with a re entry tiger team.
