Missiles ??

Post by sliver_bullet »

I am still at early stage but I do find missile not that useful at all...and most of the time it will be destroy by ECM ...and such high AP points to launch it , perhaps shorter distance will provide some danger

But i think it is useful in wasting enemy AP as he need to use ECM ...

ANyway ...this is one great game ....Cheers

Missiles are very good and pack a good punch when they hit. You can certainly argue that using your 4 APs for two gunshots will do the same damage, but that's all...the same damage. No more. And even then, that's only if both gun shots land on target.

My opening sequence in battle is fire a missile and use my 1 remaining AP to target guns with that special ability. Then next round, I have already got guns targetted which nearly always results in a hit. That's 2APs - next target guns again and then fire guns again...another hit (normally). It's about maximising AP usage. Meanwhile, the enemy ship (as you point out) is using AP on ECM.

What´s important is the underlying strategy of using missiles. By firing a missile you actually suppress enemy fire, because he will have to use his AP (action-points) to ECM (counter) your missile.

Plus it's not like missles are lasers and should hit often. I think the level of missle hits is appropriate for this little beer & pretzels game.
