Why wont the AI use TOs

Post by garysorrell »

This just kills me. I had a game going between 2 teams, losing team behind by 8pts. They had the ball with 1min to go and 3 timeouts. They NEVER used a timeout. This is 8man ball on a 50yd field. 1 Minute is an eternity in Arenaball. A lead can change a couple times in 1 minute. A TD and a 2pt try is all they needed to tie.

Anyway, just venting.

Seems to work fine with me, but I don't remember ever having an 8 point lead.

Maybe the team was coached by Brad Childress.

You know, the Minnesota Vikings head coach that punted with 2 minutes to go and no timeouts.  It was 4th and 13 at their own 18yard line, but punting basically conceded the game.

Afaik, no. But that would be great.

I saw the AI using TO in the last 2 minutes of a game. But it called a TO after every play that ended inbounds. No matter how much time was left on the clock, & no matter of the field position.

I also saw what th1207 said. In a second game, the team started calling TOs after every play when it was behind, with about 2:30 to go. Which tells me it is thinking 11 or 12 man football on a big field.

I understand it's pointless to bring this up, other than for general info purposes, but it's still annoying.

I've never had a problem with the CPU not calling timeouts, just problems with when they call them (basically what th1207 said).

I've seen teams call timeout, under two minutes (can't remember if it was game or half), with the lead, and the other team was on offense and had just completed a pass for first down.  That doesn't happen very often though.  Usually they just burn all their timeouts in the manner stated above.

Cant say I've ever had any problems with Time Out's

Although its worth baring in mind
I only ever play Canadian rules
and under the CFL rules each team only has one TO anyway not 3

Oh yea....I was playing 8 man on a big field with US rules.....so maybe the CPU got a little confused.
