1948 NFL Results for Week 5

Post by Old Coach »

Below, I show week 5 results for 1948 NFL Season played with MaxFb. The key game of week 5 was between the Rams and Bears with Cleveland winning 10-7 in a tight defensive battle. In the East, Baltimore came back from a 28-7 deficit in the last 6 minutes of the game to tie Pittsburgh. This was more a case of the Steelers choking than it was a great comeback by the Colts. The Steelers lost 3 fumbles and gave up a 60 yard punt return in the last 6 minutes of the game. The Texans avoided going 0-5 by scoring twice in the last 4 minutes of the game to tie the Packers. Green Bay missed a game winning field goal with 3 seconds left. Houston lost to the Cardinals in a revenge game for Chicago. The Oilers beat the Cardinals 45-7 in week 2 and the Cardinals were thirsting for revenge. They got it. The key game in week 6 will be the Bears playing at Houston. The team that can bounce back from their tough loss in week 5 will take over 2nd place in the West behind Cleveland.

I will include pictures of game action in later posts.

Here are some action shots from the game between the Cleveland Rams and Chicago Bears. For week 5, I played all east coast games as rain games. I set the start date for the season as 9/10/48. That would place week 5 at 10/8/48. A general rain along the east coast from New York to Washington would be possible at that time of the year. The Bears had a great chance to win this game but Sid Luckman was intercepted twice deep in Cleveland territory in the last 6 minutes of the game. They finally scored with 13 seconds left on a halfback pass.

Here are 3 action shots from the game between the Chicago Cardinals and the Houston Oilers. This game was payback for the Cardinals as they avenged a 45-7 beating by Houston at Houston in week 2. The Cardinals won this game 23-7 at Comiskey Field in Chicago.

And finally, the first 3 pictures are from the Giants' 28-20 win over the Titans at Yankee Stadium. The last picture is from the 31-31 tie played by the Dallas Texans and Green Bay Packers.

Hope you have enjoyed this series of posts. I have cleared my screenshot folder out for week 5. I'll post week 6 results in a few days.

Sir,
These are Great and its good to see the game is fun for you..
I have a question, How does the game sim?
I downloaded that 76 league and started siming a season, but about halfway I stopped the sim and checked that stats and seen that the 76 Steelers are off . I mean WR Swann had almost 60 caught passes more that stallworth. Is there a way to adjust such things. And it was using Hacks coaches..

You might want to look at the player ratings and adjust those. If you PM me and send me your email address, I'll send you back the 1948 league and you can look at the player ratings I've set up.
