Playbooks

Post by Tullius »

When you play the first time the game (US Maximum Football League) i would strongly recommend that all teams will use at least the "Fun and Gun" Playbook and replace every other stock playbook. These other stock playbooks will have interesting plays (which should be valid even after the latest patch) but are more models. The most have one theme and are often one-sided.

So we have a "11-PRO-Passing 42def" playbook. On the defense side you find only 2 GL plays and some 42-Defense plays. This of course not sufficient to make a stand as defense. Especially the AI will suffer because of the missing profile and he will choose very often a GL defense in standart situations. The game will end as carnage. That`s why we will see out-of-line scores.

The best option is to use some newer community playbooks which are very sophisticated.

Im currently putting together an 'alternative' plays folder. It will only contain playbooks that have some sort of decent situations list.
That way, new users especially could download it and use it instead of the default, and could avoid the importing process.

I would luv to have some 12 man playbooks if anyone has some.

The whole idea for the Playmaker Tools was to have all of the playbooks start from the same basics and have full and functional playbooks in the box.

Alas, I could never really get it across to either the developer or publisher how important playbooks were to a game of this type.

It is a critical aspect of the game.

I have updated plays for the Fun and Gun.  Many of the old plays were not 2.0 compliant.

Has anyone made any profiles to go with the default playbooks?  Or any playbooks for that matter?

Hack and I both actively make books and promote them.  I'm pretty sure Hack makes profiles for his.  I made a profile for my spread/335, and plan on going back and doing one for my Pro/43.  I will also only be releasing books with profiles in the future. I conveniently link to my playbooks in my signature.

Other people have made books, and they are probably on FBMax, but I haven't looked at them to see what they offer.  You would need to ask the person who made the book if they made a profile as well, or just download it and look for yourself.

all 6 of my playbooks have detailed profiles.  [&o]DreamtheaterVT also has really good playbooks, and I've made improvements based off some of his plays.  FBMax also contains a lot of other playbooks.

This is my latest release (10/08).
