PDS Playmaker Tools

Post by Marauders »

In the beta forum during the PDS 2.0 alpha phase, we discussed playbook conventions and how that impacted playbooks. Some guidelines were set up for standard conventions, but I have seen some changes of the formats we came up with by the various playbook creators on the beta team. That is understandable to some extent, because there are so many variables to formations, routes, and playbooks, but it had hoped it would be more streamlined.

Because of this, I have sat down and put together the building blocks of play design called Playmaker Tools for the PDS. This will allow many playbooks to be created with defined play designs and naming conventions. I believe this will be a great help in this area.

This was to be ready for release with the first public beta of Release 3 along with revamped default playbooks, but a major computer crash that wiped out my main drive corrupted almost all of my Maximum-Football files, and I have had to backtrack to duplicate the files. Even with that setback, I hope to be able to get these out to the public within a few new builds.

The old default playbooks will be fleshed out with the Playmaker Tools, and any new playbooks from me will as well.

I have talked to nmleague about some modifications and tweaks to his playbooks, and there will be some duplication of effort, but I have already considered ways to be inclusive of his effort to produce quality playbooks for Maximum-Football that will aid in this project.

P.S. I am always looking for new playbooks (I have about thirty of them), but Canadian playbooks are not as easy to come by as American rules playbooks. If anyone has a real world Canadian or Indoor rules playbook in PDS or paper form, please PM me. I won't refuse American rules playbooks, but Canadian playbooks are a priority. Thanks.

Marauders,

I've got a Canadian Playbook that I'm putting together. There are about 50 Offensive plays in six formations (I'll probably be adding another 10 offensive plays).

Defense only has seven plays currently. With what had been posted before R3 came out, on defensive plays being incompatible, I didn't spend a lot of time coming up with defensive plays if they couldn't be used with the next release.

Now that I've seen PDS 2.0, I'm very excited about kicking play development back into gear, and I'll be working on finishing my Canadian Book sometime soon.
It's time to kick ass and chew bubblegum... and I'm all outta gum.
