OT - Slowly but getting their

Post by Mykal »

My copy of Madden 08 finally arrived from Canada this Morning
(dont ask me why a UK seller shipped it to me from Canada )

and I'm slowly getting to grips with the editors
managed to import in a Bengals uniform and switch the camera views already
I'll soon be upto pace on it and be able to import in my SaberCats

had to make do with the Madden generic uniform build for now
but still looks pretty kewl

Image

can see I'll be drifting off from MF for a wee while, til I get the hang of this thing

Agree 1,000% TexMod is your friend LOL - just remember to attach your .bmps/.tgas so the rest of us can set up your top notch uniforms too

:-)

Now if only you could rig in a 12th man, 10 extra yards, singles, goalpost placement, etc. etc. into the darned thing.

I'm pretty sure you can do that with something JD made. About everything else I have no idea...

Hahahahahahahaha,
that was half the problem yesterday,
I rememberd you told me you can edit the camera view
but couldnt remember which one I needed..........

so I kinda fumbled around 3 quarters of the day to find what I needed
then I found your post in these forums and hey presto...... job was done in around 3 seconds

Basically it just comes down to knowing what you need to do what job
well actually for me......... just need the graphical bits..... not much else I can do but graphics

so I'll go grab up texmod right now before it slips my mind [8|]

Guys, a little Madden talk is fine, as it relates to Maximum Football, but one can see how this conversation should really be moved to the Football Freaks forum.  I am sure Matrix Games doesn't want multiple threads about the availability and modification of competitors' games.

I agree, the SabreCats look nice in Madden. What would be nice is getting Maximum Football to look a lot more like Madden.

I have used modified Madden and Football Freaks textures since 1.3, and BigSmooth has been using some as well. The problem I have is that no Madden textures can be used for any official update. That shouldn't limit the user-only mods though.

Not bad,
the face certainly looks better
the actual uniform textures, I dont like
not that theirs anything wrong with 'em and nothing wrong with peoples efforts
but personal feeling (and its only my opinion) is:
they just never look right
always seems to be too much texture in the jersey and not enough in the pants

The pants above are the default texture.  The jersey is old as well, but it uses a modified Madden based texture.  This is an old screen shot that I took when I was testing the way that the textures wrapped on the models.

I tend to like textures that look realistic in action.  Some textures don't stretch well at the seams.

One thing I wanted David to look at was the bump mapping.  With a better bump map, the texture could be more simple, and the jersey mesh (actual look rather than 3D mesh) could be modified.  With the mesh bump mapped, all uniforms have them in the high graphics setting, so the uniforms look sort of like a Hefty stretch trash bag at times.

The graphics textures don't wrap well either.  Gloves and arms do not mirror.
the face certainly looks better

It's a modified FaceGen face.  Those should be re-done to give an older look, in my opinion.

Dont mis-understand me Bro,
I wasnt pointing out faults with your graphic inparticular
I meant as a whole

I have also tried the madden textures
and the results are very similar, they just dont work well with MF
but then why would they when they were designed for a whole other game
whatever you do with them, the under-armour never looks right
and the jersey seams are never quite in the right place.

I may well look at merging the 2 to see what can be done with 'em
or even start from scratch with some textures of my own........ thats my kinda thing as you know.

Bump mapping, yep I agree its horrid, doesnt look good at all IMO
but thats well outside my skill set and limited understanding.

Stretching of uniform texture............. Dont even start me on that one
as anyone who ever tried to do even a slightly complexed design for a uniform will know.... stretching really haunts ya' as you go
ITS A NIGHTMARE at the best of times
and the 2 sides of the 3D model dont even stretch in the same amounts so it can tricky in their at times
I counter that by keeping my templates of a particular uniform design
so if I need to do another in the same or similar design most of the hard (nightmare) work is already done.
