Yeah Brockleigh, Coach Landry sure punched Hollywood's ticket in nothing flat. But that was back in the day when a coach could do things like that and not have to face the NFLPA complaints.

There is no denying the fact that both Moss and TO have put up some pretty good numbers and definately pose a problem to defenses. Sure they are human and make mistakes (oops I forgot we are talking football players so that would be "errors in judgement" [8|] ) just like everybody else even if they are professional athletes. I also believe that when you do what you are supposed to do there is no reason to celebrate and that you should give your best on every occasion. I have no problem with a fist pump or two when a player makes a big play at a critical time and especially an extraordinary play any time. What I do have issues with are those players who don't give 100% every play and continually find fault with others. I think it is human nature for us football fans to remember the 2 or 3 dropped passes, a half heartedly run route, a screaming match on the sideline with the QB or coach and couple finger pointing comments in a post game interview while we completely forget the 6 catches for 95 yards and the TD. I've played on and coached teams where one of the biggest impact players on the team came with so much baggage and distraction that it completely overshadowed all the possitives they possessed. As a matter of fact one year I coached I got so fed up with one player I benched him for a half and the team actually played better without him.

Y'know, he's reminding me of another Dallas player who's mouth far outstripped his skills, and firebirds will probably remember him: Thomas "Hollywood" Henderson.

Brockleigh and firebirds,

Now, you guys have really got me interested, I thought I knew what Brockleigh was implying. Please, tell my The Thomas "Hollywood" Henderson story.

I guess you missed this during N.O. Saints Monday Night Game, when the announcing crew discussed how he was playing with a serverly damaged finger. The finger is damaged to the point that he decided to continue playing over season ending surgery; thus T.O. will never be able to use that finger again. If that was me, even with how much I am addicted (serious) to USAn FB, I would have never done that. I have always valued my body over my addiction to USAn FB.

firebirds,

I love the celebrations, think The NFL is to up tight about that. When a WR is that hurt in one of his fingers he is going to drop a lot more passes, if simply because he at times cannot stand the pain and tries to catch them with his body and they bounce out.

By the way, please, tell me more about your coaching experience. What state? What level? What coaching position? What position? and etc?

Great White, in a nutshell here is a copy/cut/paste about Thomas "Hollywood" Henderson.

Selected in the 1st round (18th overall) in 1975 by the Cowboys to play inside linebacker. Earned All-Pro honors for the 1977 season. Henderson was such a good athlete that the Cowboys used him to run reverses on kickoffs from time to time, with him scoring on one occasion. He was one of the first linebackers to run a 4.6 in the 40-yard dash. However, his destructive lifestyle of drugs, alcohol, and fast women began to catch up with him. During many games, including Super Bowl XIII (1979), he used cocaine on the sideline. Dallas Coach Tom Landry had warned Henderson that his lack of discipline and his gift for disruptive behavior (not to mention drug use) might create a rift. His behavior in the locker room and on the field was such that coach Landry dismissed him just before the Thanksgiving Day game in 1979. "Landry had given me plenty of warning," Henderson admits. The next year would be his last, as he bounced from the Houston Oilers (1980) to the San Francisco 49ers (1980), while continuing to use drugs.

This is all i have to say about T.O:

-Very, very good WR, Top 5 reciver
-Plays his heart out
- A lot of teams want a TALENT like his

BUT!

-San Fran I can somewhat understand, but hes still wrong

-He's an idiot  for leaving philly because him and McNabb were such a good combo, one of the best short-lived WR combos lol[:)]. He threw away a super bowl.

- Dallas needed him and I think him and Romo have good chemistry but you never know with T.O

*Still have ot luv his game

Thanks. Okay yeah, I have heard and watched that all that already, I thought you guys knew something more. I just cannot believe he was allowed to do what he did in Dallas, for as long as they did. A question I have always wondered is if old style coach Tom Landry had ever thought of forcing him into rehab, let alone did it?

Any Franchise/Program/Team is better off with out Cancers like T.O. and Moss, no matter how productive they are. Just as you say
you never know with T.O.
, and I expect that in at least 2-years he will have pushed himslef out of Dallas, long after HC Bill Parchells is gone-because of him and stupid Owner JJ, and Dallas would have never won a NFC Championship, let alone a Super Bowl. Of course with stupid Dallas Fans/Consumers, out of the stupid FB Fans/Consumers of the world) Owner JJ will earn a lot more money in that same time, not even to mention The NFL. You got to love the egos in sports (Bill Parchells, T.O., Randy Moss, Jerry Jones and Al Davis, Jimmy Johnson and 'Dick' Saban[:@])!

Here's some information about Randy Moss:
1) Rookie record 17 TD catches.
2) Moss has had 3 seasons where he averaged at least one receiving TD a game. 1998 (17 TDs in 16 games), 2003 (17 TDs in 16 games), and 2004 (13 TDs in 13 games). He is the only wide receiver in NFL history to accomplish this task.
3) Moss had back to back 100 catch seasons, first in 2002 and then in 2003. He joined Sterling Sharpe, Jerry Rice, Herman Moore, Cris Carter, Marvin Harrison, and Rod Smith as the only receivers to do so.
4) Moss set a record at the end of the 2005 in averaging 12.25 receiving TDs per season.
5) Moss broke a record for the most 1,000 yard seasons in his first seasons of the league. In his first 6 seasons in the NFL, he had 1,000+ yards in each seasons. Maybe that's been broken now, I don't know, but it was a record when Moss did it.
6) Moss broke a record by averaging 100 yards and 1 TD per game through a 16 NFL game season.

And some other Moss goodies:

1) Moss holds the record for most touchdowns in Minnesota Vikings playoff history with eight.
2) Moss holds the Viking record for most 100 yard receiving games with 42.
3) Moss had a Pro Bowl record nine receptions for 212 yards in the 1999 season's Pro Bowl.
4) Moss has caught 13 or more TDs in a season 4 times. He is 3rd in the NFL in that stat.
5) Only Jerry Rice and Randy Moss have caught 17 or more TDs in a season twice.

Pretty impressive.

Yeah, no doubt Moss was the best at that time; but that is many years ago now. Plus, there is no stats for effort, attitude and his ability to deal with other teammates.

GW, are you saying that Randy Moss was able to accomplish those stats without effort?

The Vikings records are for a team with a history of some of the best receivers in the NFL: John Gilliam, Ahmad Rashad, Sammy White, Anthony Carter, Cris Carter, and Jake Reed.

Moss does have an attitude: he didn't like getting open and not having Daunte Culpepper go through his progressions, but Cris Carter had the same attitude, and Cris Carter will end up with a bronze bust in Canton.

Randy Moss was selected as a team Captain in Oakland.  Is that because he has a problem with other players?

Is he frustrated?  To be sure.  The offense in Oakland is run like a bad high school team.

I disagree; no use in going around and around with opinions. All I will say is you are welcome to all those Mosses (forcing a Franchise to sign a contract that guarranteed to get him the ball 1/3 of the plays) and T.O.s out there.

From the fairy tale image you have of the do nothing wrong Moss which is unneeded or definitely would not be apprecaited protection, I know realize I should have stuck to the above quote. Sorry, my mistake. Well, one lives and learns, I am done.

You may notice that I am from Minnesota.  Most people outside of Minnesota only get their news about Moss from Fox Sports and other sports tabloid garbage.

If someone says that Randy Moss does not run crisp routes, and that he doesn't always look the ball in, then I can agree.  Saying that Moss is some kind of team cancer like Terrell Owens is, in my opinion, an incorrect statement.

One should also note that Randy Moss has been playing injured pretty much since his rookie season.  He has chronic ankle problems.  Many players sit with those types of injuries, but Moss played through them.  One should consider that when one sees him run a short route and the play is to the other side of the field.

I don't have to defend Randy Moss, because his numbers say enough, but I believe a bit of enlightenment is in order, because Moss has been targeted in the national press, and most fans outside of Minnesota only get that slanted viewpoint.
