Injury notes: we place Whit Wyatt on the 60-day DL. His injury (rotator cuff) is serious enough to perhaps finish him for the season. We recall Van Mungo from AAA. With Dixie Walker out of the lineup, our team BA has taken a nosedive. We expect Dixie to return in a couple of days.

Brooklyn, Saturday July 22. We host the first-place Cardinals. Hamlin (13-7, 2.97) vs Warneke (9-4, 1.36). 81 degrees, with a light breeze blowing in from RF. Ernie Koy breaks up a no-hitter with a 2-out triple in the 9th. It is the Dodgers' only hit. Warneke gets a 5-0 shutout. Hamlin loses.

Finally, a report came that the Browns traded OF Chet Laabs to the Giants for C Harry Danning. My phone remained silent.

The Dodgers, Giants and Bees are tied for 4th, 18 GB St Louis. To break into the first division has now become a matter of pride, as it appears that only the Reds can threaten the Cardinals.

In the junior circuit, the lowly Browns are on pace to lose 100 games. They are 32-76, 39 GB the Yankees.
