Palm TX - No Show/Hide grid

Post by jvgfanatic »

I've examine all of the options/menus but there appears to be no Show/Hide Grid option as described under the "troubleshooting" section of the manual.

correct, I assume this is another feature not in the "lesser" palm version.

Is there any chance the Palm version will be updated to match the Pocket PC version's feature set?

It may seem trivial but I spent 14 years in the computer industry as a human interface designer and thus how a game looks and feels is very important to me...more important than it should be, to be sure.

Go to Prefs/Settings in version 1.44 to enable the hex grid.

The Pocket PC version 1.5 is a rewrtitten code. Palm OS imposes many limits - for instance it is still a 16 bit OS (this means that you must keep everything for instance bitmaps, music, in chunks smaller than 65536 bytes). Dynamic heap is also very important, for instance on certain Palm models it is less than 1MB - this means that you cannot allocate more memory dynamically (the offscreen buffer in Palm T5/TX/Lifedrive requires 320x480x2bytes per pixel = 307200 bytes) - while under Windows Mobile you usually have at least 20-30MB. Also, the developer tools are many years behind tools for Pocket PC development. While many people complain about MS Windows I don't know anybody who complains about their development tools, they are really good.
