system requirment

Post by galaril »

Paul or Joel,
I am running the game on a 2.0 ghz computer with aolder GE 264mb card so they meet the basic reqirements of the game but I only got 256mb RAM. Please tell me I can still play this game on the system at least until I get my new 3.6 ghz 2GB rig at the beginning of june.

Galaril,

That should work, though slower than ideal, but you should set the lower (16 bit) graphics option in the game options until you upgrade your memory. Honestly, you could upgrade your system to 512Mb for likely less than $50 these days, which is an excellent upgrade for the operating system and all applications, including games. I would upgrade the memory regardless of GGWaW and an upcoming new system. That way your old system can be a useful backup or second/LAN computer in the future.

Thanks for the advice on the computer. Actually, I am relocating back to the US from Korea in about 7 weeks and the computer I have now is a few years older and not worth the cost to ship it back to the USA. But, if I was going to keep it I certainly would upgrade the memory and graphics card for that matter. Glad to hear I can still play it temporarily on this PC. What is the main thing bring up the requirements not the graphics i am assuming?. Is it the AI computations? Just curious?

There are a variety of issues, but the game does like both system memory and video memory a lot in terms of how it responds performance-wise to more or less of those. CPU is less important, in my experience.

I have 512 mb but when installing the game a popup box said I didn't have 512 mb. Seems strange.

Check your system details (if you have any recent office apps its under "about") and make sure its working properly - Also if you have "shared video memory" the game will see less than 512 by how much video memory you allocate.
