Some Preferance options won't set

Post by Station »

I've tried various different ways, but even if I checkmark "Windowed" mode, and then hit the okay checkmark button at the top-right of the screen, it will not make the game windowed.

I've been having problems with the game crashing, sometimes on the AI players' turns and sometimes on mine, so I wanted to try windowed, but it won't switch out from Full Screen.

Please help, thanks.

In order to set windowed mode, you have to set it in preferences, then exit and re-start the game. Have you tried that yet?

Also, you can force it by adding a -w to the end of the command line in the quick start shorcut for the game.

Ah, thanks.

I didn't realize I had to restart.

Then again, most the times I left the game, it was because it crashed and I guess when it crashes, it doesn't save your settings.

If you are experiencing crashes, please post a DxDiag file for us (see the pinned thread in this forum on how to do that) and make sure your video and sound drivers and DirectX are up to date. Try setting low graphics and windowed mode, then exiting and restarting. Try turning off combat animations (set their delay to 0) as there is a known bug if more than 64 units are in an animation.
