Possible bug: I never got attacked

Post by jwkarr »

Has anyone else run into this? I played China, both the combat and production sides. All other powers were computer-controlled. During the entire game, Japan never once attacked me, even though it massed many armies right next to my territories. I can't believe the AI decided that China was too inconsequential to warrant any attack at all.

I'm running version 1.40 of the game. Any help or thoughts would be appreciated!

Thanks,
James

I'm sure that can happen as sometimes the AI strategy is to not attack China. Usually they attack on turn 1 though, but I can't remember if that's supposed to always happen.

Thanks for the reply. I should have been a little clearer about what was happening. Japan would move armies into one of my Chinese land regions, but the attack never actually occured, and as the game progressed they should have easily overtaken my forces. It was very odd.

One possible cause, I may have installed a bad patch. A while back I downloaded a patch that said it updated the game to version 1.40, and indeed that's what the file version of the .exe was afterwards. But on the main menu screen the version number in the bottom left corner was 1.040, so something screwy was going on. I reinstalled the game from scratch, then updated it to 1.202--that is the most recent version, right? Hoperfully that will take care of it.
