Is there any other way to determine my serial number?

Post by Horvo »

My wife threw away the paper sleeve with my serial number, but I had already patched to 1.016 so I have inputted the number at least twice. Is there anyway to find my serial number from inside the program or am I just screwed? I really want to upgrade with the latest patch, but I don't see how I am going to be able to do it. Thanks

Hehe, the same happened to me trying to install the first patch, though I can't blame the wife, just my carelessness. [:)] Anyways I had to look in the Registry to find it, search for World at War. Afterwards write it down somewhere of course and you are good to go [;)]

At least "my wife threw it away" is a little more imagitive than "my dog ate it." Anyway, if you register your game on the Matrixgames website, you can always have your serial number emailed to yourself.

So the only way to retrieve it is if I registered the game. So I am still screwed. It's my own fault, but I have to say that in 15 years of computer gaming I can't remember a single other game where I needed the serial number to update with a patch. I don't really see how it prevents pirating.

Horvo, do as Ron stated. Your serial number is in the Windows registry in plain text. Press START... RUN and type REGEDIT. Then do a search on 'Gary Grigsby' and it should find it.

Go to command prompt.

Type 'regedit'.

Go to local machine, software, Matrix, GGWaW.

Your number is listed under 'authorized'

Hope it helps!

Huge thanks to you guys. I was going to be so bummed, you saved me from having to buy the game again. I wrote it in my manual for next time. Thanks a ton. Drinks are on me.
