New Mod - Download Available - More Pics

I have made a custom mod with modeled fighter cockpits and a variety of new warships with custom weapons. I’ve produced a two variant battle ship, two light cruisers (larger destroyers), a two variant spacecraft carrier, a fighter, an attack spacecraft, LCA (Raptor style) craft and a long range bomber complete with a copious bomb bay. All models are complete and functional. All spacecraft have modeled cockpits complete with pilots. I’ve balanced the ships to so that they’re terrifying firepower does not shock and awe your game experience.

Bays Open

Bays Open showing a mixed load of anti ship(Green) and anti air (Red) tipped cruise missiles.

The loadout of this bomber consist of 10 harpoints with a choice of anti fighter or anti Cap ship cruise missiles. Each hardpoint holds a rack of 10 missiles and is changable like any other ship in the game. The capacity of this bomber is 80 missiles. It's defensive armament consist of 1 Point defense cannon on the stern.

Did you say aircraft? Man, this is space sim, not flight sim [:-]

Ronin,

You've done some nice work there. How does your fleet balance against stock SS ships and fighters?

Surprisingly close despite a completely different focus. I made the balance more of a strengths and weakness game where each strength has an achilles heel. for example, my cap ships are able to engage with cannons at very long range, and are devestating at close range, however they have deflector shields and a relatively weak hull.

I have included 2 missions which were test beds during my balancing phase of this mod. They outline the importance of commanders and pilots rather than the new and unique aspects of these ships. The focus of this mod is to enable commander/player freedom of action and fighting outside of the box.

To make a long story short, I did a lot of tweaking to balance this mod against the original.

I like the models but those textures are just too ugly for me. It seems you have the rest figured out.

Question:

How did you open the bay doors? Are they part of the "landing gear" so that raising the gear, opens the bay?

Yes, that's exactly how it opens.

I would have to agree, thanks for putting tgether some cool ships!

I downloaded and did a quick try on the two missions...pretty cool stuff!

Looks like the balance is pretty good too, considering everything. Havent had the chance for a full shakedown, but first impressions for me are two thumbs up!

A new game engine?! Wow, aren't you ambitious?

I considered it and even purchased some tools to do it, but not only was I in over my head... my upreached finger tips were completely submerged. [:D]

It wasn't a matter of not being able to... It was an admission that I didn't have the patience to do it. Regardless.... go for it.

For that matter.... I'd be willing to help playtest whatever you come up with.

Unrequested suggestion.... have your engine permit ground moving targets.

That's just something I wish Starshatter had. [;)]
