I notice some games have an option to order the CD version of a game and download the game right away. It would be nice to have that option before the CD version is ready. Basically order the game with the understanding that it won't ship for a week but be able to download and play right away. I realize it's too late to implement this for Supremacy.

I've waited long enough for Supremacy that another week won't kill me though.

That´s what we´re working on with Digital River for some time now allready. It´s planned that you can "upgrade" your digital download when the CD and Boxes are available.

Right now with every release there´s first the download, to make the product immediatly available, then after the obvious logistic delay, the physical version is made avaiable (about 7-11 days later). We want it that customers that allready have bought the "Digital Download" earlier will then be able to upgrade to the "PC Physical Shipment".

Digital River was looking mid to end March to implement this feature.

So if I buy the game tommorrow I can upgrade in a couple weeks or so and have the CD version shipped to me then?

Thats is what Digital River plans, yes. At this time I can´t make any promises of course, but I wouldy say 99% yes [;)]
