Commanders...

Post by TheHellPatrol »

I have read the questions thread and the manual but still have some doubts. The manual seems to imply the bonuses are imparted on the units of the same race eg:" Fvost units under the Fvost commander..."
The "questions" thread praetorblue mentioned a bonus to all units but more for the same race. Which is correct? How does it work? Thanks[&o].

TheHellPatrol,

I'll be glad to clarify. For each commander, there is a listof bonuses/penalties for each race it can command. For example (and these numbers are made up), the Fvost commander may be something like:

Bonus to fvost: 10% atk/def
Bonus to groth: 5% atk/def
Bonus to altan: 5% atk/def
Penalty to cha'ar: -10% atk/def

The calculations are more complex, and these aren't the real numbers, but this is the basic idea. So what you know when you pick a commander is that units it commands of its own race get a nice bonus. It's arch-enemy race gets no bonus or a small penalty (fvost vs. cha'ar and groth vs. altan are arch-enemy races).

So if you like using certain race-specific units in your strategies, choose a commander that will give those units the biggest bonus.

Hope this helps,
Vance

I should also add that you generally start with at least one planet of the race of the commander you choose. So it lets you start out with what units you prefer to play with (although since the goal is Supremacy, you'll eventually end up with all kinds).
