Another happy nobody from the void....

Needless pandering:

Wow, I bought this game on a whim (IGF finalists have my interest by default), and I must say that I'm thoroughly impressed. It's been quite some time since a game has seized my attentions like this one has.

Geeat work, Blackhammer.

A small question:

Does the engine start to chug on ground battles for everyone? This only seems to be the case whenever there are bushes/ice-crystals on the screen. I've tried all sorts of different graphic options, and I have a more than capable rig... Certainly not detracting from my fun, but I was curious if there was some easy fix.

At first I also found the ground battles to be really sluggish responding to mouse clicks.

I play pretty much all games with 4xAA and 16xAF turned on in drivers with great performance, including City of Heroes, Kohan 2, Sacred, etc.. I tried turning AA and AF off and got a huge boost in responsiveness. Even with AA and AF off some of the ground maps are still a bit sluggish responding to mouse clicks. Having to hold the mouse button for even a quarter second is something I have never experienced in any game before.

It doesn't make much sense to me. The ground battles are not graphically impressive. I do notice that even in full screen mode it is the windows cursor being displayed. Perhaps the problem is in not using a hardware mouse cursor?

Turning off AA & AF does make the problem barely noticeable for me but that is another annoyance in itself. I play a lot of games and have gotten very used to leaving 4xAA and 16xAF on fulltime. I don't really appreciate having to turn them off for Supremacy.

Thank God. Finally someone is backing me up on this. Yes, I have this problem too, but it's not limited to mouse response during the ground battles. I notice that keyboard input is dodgy as well; for instance, when typing in a new name for a unit you have to type verrrrry slooooowly in order for all the letters to register. If you type fast, it will miss some out.

Hmm...

I run into a slightly different problem. I hit small pockets of lag on ground battles but only after playing the game for significant quantities of time and in battles with large numbers of units.

Its nothing that makes it unplayable for me in any way, its more like a 5 second pause every now and then.

Sorry you guys are having trouble we will certainly see if there is a way from our end to fix it.

I haven't captured any units yet--been meaning to try that out. I have noticed when naming stations/planets if I type too fast it will skip letters. Very strange, indeed.

Fun game, don't get me wrong, but something strange with the way it's using dxinput perhaps?
