Screen Resolution?

Post by NefariousKoel »

I read that there's a fixed screen resolution.

Is there any way to change it to my monitor's 1280x1024 native resolution? Or anyone else's LCD native resolution for that matter?

One of the members of the developers forum mentioned that he was playing in 16:9 format. Unfortunately I have gotten the impression that you need to manually alter a file to get it to that resolution.

Per Erik Rutins (Matrix):
I'm running it on a 1280x1024 LCD screen with no problems- it seemed to auto-detect that.

That doesn't agree with what I've seen Russian players post, but I'd take Erik's word for it myself.

I can confirm, that the game can run in widescreen resolutions after editing the ini.file (default resolution 1024x768, changed to 1680x1050), no more globe deformation after that.

So far let me put it this way:

The game is very very simple, i mean the GUI, the menus, there is not much to choose from in the game, in base, simply choose scientists lab, start new research, choose the name of the project, done. No additional options. Everything in the game is like this, very very simple, BUT is not simple better then complicated?

In mission, the graphics are very clean, no Dx10 effects though :). It is what would you expect from remake. This game definitively is attempt to remake original strategy game XCOM. Although there is intro movie before the game starts, after the movie ends, it is simply you, the globe, new UFO detected, shoot it down, send your soldiers there, so far I did not notice any story during first month or so, simply you, globe and missions, and funding, research of course. Too early to produce anything so far.

So final words are: this is remake, but not excact copy, the gameplay will definitely remind you of playing XCOM. No special additions to the gameplay, no changes or improvements, let the hunt begin.

At least it sounds like you can manually alter a preferences file if it doesn't "automatically" adjust to your res.  Good deal.
