UFO: Extraterrestrials is a futuristic real-time/turn-based strategy blend set on the fictional planet of Esperanza in 2025. Having made a bloody first contact with a strange form of life from another planet, the player is thrust into the tough position of leading the defense of this isolated planet against the never-ending assault of these hostile invaders

When you capture enemy weapons early on, you can see the question mark in the research area, but the weapons themselves are not carried in your inventory (even as alien artifacts). The original X-com let you sell the captured weapons as artifacts to get extra money, and believe me with how tough it is to capture an alien commander (Those Destroyer things SUCK!) you need the money desperately.

Can this be fixed so that captured weapons are still invetoried as alien artifacts and are saleable until they are researched???

Thanks a bunch, having fun with the game now. Battlecruisers are TOUGH....

You have to research them first in order to sell them. Basically, many of the weapons you find will be much needed when you research them since the older weapons become far less effective against newer enemies.
