Funds are up, we are saving for some big ticket items to build.
The enemy has been kicked off-world, for now.
Trooper training going well as all troopers strive for a solid balance across the skills.

The enemy conquers our base in Thermos often. We counterattack and make experience. Having a base on the other side of the world allows us to get funds from that region. If the enemy attacks closer to home, and lands a ship to conquer a region we lack a base in, we are close and can quickly launch a recon mission to discover the enemy base.

We have bases in the following regions:
Ilyria (Main Base)
Medie (Medieval base)
Stratos (Starlight base)
Thermos (Inferno base)

Building more bases right now seems unnecessary. We direct the action by forcing the enemy to take what is available. Of course, sooner or later the enemy will attack either Stratos or Medie base.

We have not sold a single artefact. Only 1 Lab and 2 Workshops grace Main Base. We have 3 Raptor air squadrons, with exceptional missiles and cannons. We are keeping a slither commander on ice for now.

Note: Yes, this is a restart. Yes, it is still on HARD difficulty. Max funds from any region is 467k. Only regions with bases give that amount, otherwise the max is 292k.

Overall this was a light month. General Hawken is concerned that the aliens have some tricks up their proverbial sleves in the near future, so we added a 4th interceptor. The new rifles work wonderfully, and ammo supply is very high (80+ rounds for new rifle, 25+ for the heavy gun).

High Command is wondering if the politicians and press even read the reports. Still, HC is pleased to be able to keep track of accurate records.

Very active month. Many large missions occured after the usual training runs in the early month. High Command made the mistake of exploring a late-month scout and had 3 casualties (Amra out for 42 days, he will miss all of OCT). Only two techs researched but they add up to less time in sickbay, eventually (once built). The scout where Amra bought it was 1 day before the new building came on line ([:(]).

The enemy conquered Patria with a CA so we went and investigated. Many Bugs. Immediately after refuel we went and smoked out the Base they had there. Enemy also retook Inferno base in Thermos, as usual. We had to retake that again, (monthly occurance). In the middle of the month the aliens terrorized Pulsar, but they were annihilited.

Things looking fine.

Very slow month. The warriors kinda needed the time off after September's furious action. We made key breakthroughs in tech and it looks like R&D is going to have a field day. Things heated up and became nasty. We had multiple targets over Ilyria this month and lost a Raptor. We no longer have air supremacy. Although all missions were successful we had to pass on 2 of 4 Terror missions. The scout was not worth the effort as a floater hid on a lvl 3 building while throwing green goo at us (we could not see it and had to go get it, easy enough but still [:'(].) Warriors were in the tank often, and even with the latest tech 30 days is again the norm for a downed soldier. Still, we are doing fine. We passed on the super tech increase, but we may get it this month.

For once the enemy did not conquer Thermos. [8D]

Nice quiet month. After Nov., we needed it. Only 3 troopers in the tank out of 18, so Jan will be busy. Still kept the old Lab and 2 workshops. Built new fighters, air control over Ilyria regained (for now). Spent much money. Now that we have an SSG, things will get tougher.

I noted that the game gives easier missions if the rank averages on missions is low as opposed to high.

Research is going slow but we are nearing the completion of all initial technology, plus all tech from Scout and Fighter. Interrogation Room has had a slither commander for about a year now, so looks like we might try that in a few months. We will also have to research the Type 3 alien ship soon. We are still fighting shooter-grays, floaters, brown monsters and slither things. We have not seen anything else yet. Three Advanced Interceptors with better cannons than advanced grace our hangars. A new shield awaits us. We built a base on the north pole (gonna try that out). Enemy conquered Pulsar and Peloponesia, but we kicked them out. Not much activity, very few contacts this month. (3 sct, 3 ftr, 4 ca).

ALERT! ALERT! ALERT!
 
It is now 00:02 hours 10 FEB 2109. Air space lost over whole planet. Many alien ships, including a new, huge craft, have taken over the air lanes of Esperanza. Multiple alien sorties plague the planet. Furthermore, new aliens have arrived and casualties are very high. With these new aliens have come new tactics, and even the old, well-known aliens have received new command training resulting in superior alien tactics (Bman's AI mod setting on Improved). 15 soldiers are currently wounded in just 4 missions so far this month (casualties higher than 15, some were in the tank for only a few days). Most missions result in 70-80% casualties out of 10. Currently there are 4 active troopers at base.

Simulated Battles against the new alien types have resulted in 3 total mission failures with all ten soldiers lost and very light alien casualties. Luckily these were only simulations. (Yes, I have reached this point in the game before, and beyond, up through AKEW, but with the mod it is a LOT harder.) [:)][8D][;)] [:D]

R&D efforts seem behind all of a sudden. Although there were few projects left to research, these new aliens have serious protection and very high health. Standard Rifle, Laser and Shotgun blasts seem to do little to the alien's new armor. Many targets now take 10-15 or more direct hits to take down. Also, the aliens are now using grenades much better than before and a new weapon type that kills our soldiers with one hit (average 72 health per soldier, far too little).

High Command urges caution in all missions. CAF will continue to battle as much as possible. Morale is shaky amongst the troops but holding.

Well, I had to redo a few missions since I was unfamiliar with the mod. Also, I had not figured that on HARD difficulty that the aliens in tech era 2 would be so formidable. I had fought them before, on Normal game mode in an earlier game, but this time I could not deal with them. I am not certain if I will keep the mod. It does not make any sense when my soldiers are never down for more than 6 days.

Well, a new, larger ship class showed up, with new and improved aliens. We could not engage most of the larger ships we saw. We did, however, manage to shootdown 2 of them, but at the loss of an Interceptor squadron. Research finished up almost all of the tech 1 items, only a base defense is left. We are now starting on the type 3 alien craft.

The battles were very tough and very long. No longer could we sweep the enemy bases with 2-3 troopers in separate squads. We stayed together and never used less than 4 in a squad. Still, casualties were very high. Especially when the new weapons deployed by the aliens were able to kill a soldier in one hit.

Oh, we are using 3 Workshops and 1 standard Lab. We are on alien artefacts for funding.

Started out hot. Enemy came in on the 2nd and took Thermos base. We recovered it. Then things were quiet. Only had 1 scout and 2 fighters after the base recovery mission. Was only able to go to a scout. One fighter escaped off-world but the other one landed alien pods after being shot down. This was a Terror mission. We won the battle but all civies died.
 
Supplies of flammable rockets were kinda low but we fixed that. Building new defenses at bases. Added a new base in Pulsar at the beginning of April. Somehow Patria Region is not worth much, 18k tops. We have a base there, too. With a Raptor. Dunno. Base kinda expensive. 20 troopers, 20 active. Wounds seem to heal fast now.

Big Joe sure racked up the kills, didn't he! Guess when the others were in sickbay he had to lead the squad. That shotgun sure works well, and the flamethrower. [8D]
Nancy always has the hvy laser, Sarah and Kelly have lsr rifles, but John J. has a stock projectile Rifle (sometimes he has chem, sometimes RL, sometimes FlmThrwr, but always with a Rifle!) [;)]

Not much new, other than MANY alien contacts in May. We had to pick and choose our missions with care since fuel on the transy was low and many soldiers were in the hospital. June was a bit touchy, as the aliens attempted to locate our bases in Ilyria and Medie. We went to 2 landed BC for Ilyria. We also had to fight the machines on a Golf Course! Those aliens had us surrounded, somehow we pulled it out. Many missions during this time period resulted in high casualties. We had 8 out of 8 go to the hospital several times. Good thing the training specialists have helped to augment out troopers Health!

Machines are still a problem but we are holding our own against them. Incend. Rocket production is very high. Most troopers have lasers, and some still use the standard Rifle and Shotgun.

Research - only 6 technologies were researched in this quarter. We have 1 standard Lab and 3 workshops.

All troopers have brain defense. New armor almost researched. Ammo supplies high. 6 medikits and 6 adv medkits keep our soldiers healthy. We have 5 bases besides main base.

"Large enemy contact materializing over southern Ilyria!," the radar monitor's voiced was filled with shakiness as a huge enemy, alien vessel popped in out of thin air from across light years who knows how far. The aliens had somehow managed to harness plasma and use it to 'jump' across space. They could not be tracked until they appeared in Esperanze airspace.
"Heading and Speed," stated the Colonel in charge of that shift's watch.
"Heading directly this way!", stated the radar monitor.
"Calm down, and give 10-second updates." The OIC was anxious as heck but you had to watch your military bearing around these young soldiers.
"Aye-aye, Sir!" was the reply.

The enemy Battlecruiser was definately heading for Ilyrian Main Base area. Although highly unlikely that the aliens would invade main base, one could never tell. All enemy recon missions to Ilrian region were thwarted by the ground-pounders, bless them.

As the enemy craft zipped through the air the OIC waited. And waited. Patiently. The enemy vessel passed was going to pass very close to Medie Base. Hopefully it will keep coming on in, thought the Colonel.

"New enemy contacts! One scout over southern pole region .... One cruiser West of main continent! Both heading this direction!" Radar Monitoring was a slow, sometimes boring job, but when things heated up they really cooked!

The Air-Space Force (ASF) Colonel only nodded. "Stand by all interceptor squadrons main continent," he ordered.

If the enemy moved correctly, the ASF forces would be in perfect position to hit it with all interceptors while still being close to home. Of course, no one outruns these monsters anymore, any squadron attempting to do so would simply be shot down from behind.
