Report to CAF Oversight Commitee

My first act on being put in charge was to expand the base's lab facilities, add an interrogation room and put in some missile defenses. Would like to build another base but am unable due to lack of funding. Would appreciate additional funding for project. On January 19th picked up a fighter UFO and downed it right off the coast of Stratos. Dr. Cranium will not be pleased by lack of recovery but I consider the planet a bit safer. We suspect this may have been a patrol and we have shown them we can hurt them. Out hope is this will make them cautious.

I confess I am apprehensive. Earth was much more developed than Esperanza and fell to the aliens. I hope we have enough advanced warning to do something about it.

Recommendations: I require more money and more soldiers placed under the Project's umbrella. See attached financial spreadsheet.

Incident Report

A fighter was spotted at the edge of our radar over Medie. I deployed both Raptor fighters however contact was lost as it headed for Neo-Antarctica. If any of your military installations have any data on this contact please forward it to the project immediately.

Combat Report

We spotted what we believe is the same contact from yesterday heading South just North of Illyria's coast. We scrambled Raptors 1 and 2 but they were incompletely refueled and were forced to abort before engaging the contact. At 0824 hours the fighter landed in Southern Seaopia. I ordered Raider 1 to land and secure the target.

Upon landing they confronted and killed the aliens. There was some kind of research facility at the site that several of the aliens were inside. I request any information Seaopia can give us on the facility's history so we can determine what they might have been after.

Mission Notes: The current stimpack medical kit is only minimally effective at treating burns from alien weapons. We will examine this. The new Desert Spirit vehicle proved most effective and was even able to blitz inside the alien craft and operate effectively within it. I would caution that without infantry support such a move is suicide. One of the breeds attempted some kind of mind-effecting attack but it proved ineffective against us. Whether this will continue to be the case is unknown. I am putting the soldiers effected through psych evaluations and regression hypnosis to determine purpose of the attack. We have code-named the aliens we encountered Chasers and Hallucinoids. The chasers appear to be insectoid and use some kind of energy weapon. The Hallucinoids are hulking creatures (one of them wounded Janet Thompson with it's claws though the docs insist she'll be fine in about 3 weeks without armor the force of the attack would have shredded her).

Criticism of Appraisal/Report

You rated our activities as poor and I'm interested to know what more you think we could have done under the circumstances. We need more men, money, and equipment to operate at the level your standards seem to want.

In private consultation with representative for Pelopenesia we have received approval to construct a base in their territory. As will all our bases, only the hosting nation will be allowed to know it's location.

Research Report

Dr. Cranium has informed me that they have a working theory on how to develop a working handheld chemical laser. He plans to design a pistol first and work their way up to more powerful weapons. Hopefully these will cut through the aliens with greater power than our current ballistic weapons.

Combat Report

We spotted a Scout and sent both Raptors after it. They downed it in Central Stratos. Raider 1 flew in for recovery. The battle was heated. We faced a new alien that used some of kind of gaseous ammunition that released green vapor. The aliens float and fire off these things. We've code-named them Larvae. All 4 of the troops sent were wounded, 3 critically. Luckily we were able to down the last one before things fell to catastrophic.

Combat Notes: I am glad we are working on a more advanced medkit as the stimpacks failed again to deal with our wounded. I have also asked our troops to be more cautious. One of our men was hit 3 times in succession by friendly fire (psych evaluations show no signs of treason) and erratic fire within the UFO damaged some of the equipment.

General Update

Raptors 1 and 2 intercepted and destroyed a Scout today over the North Pole. The remains are underwater. I fear this may only spur on the aliens to deploy more powerful and better protected craft. Luckily to counter this Dr. Cranium informed me they now have a working model of a new cannon for our Raptors. I have Bob in Production hard at work making 3 of these (2 for our Raptors here and one for Pelopensia). We also have a working model for a laser pistor but I am not impressed by it's projected power. I've assigned some of Dr. Cranium's men to working on a larger model.

Combat Report

We shot down a Fighter over NE Ilyria today. I wanted to combat-test the new advanced cannon for our Raptors but only one is complete and it was sent to Pelopenesia. We did knock it down though Raptor 1 will be out for repairs for several days.

The team took it with only two injuries (one critical). Again the Desert Spirit led the way into the UFO and at one point into a battle with 4 snakemen-like creatures we've codenamed Vipons. The techs in the Machine shop were shocked the thing still worked when we got it back. We completed work on a new medkit and I diverted half our techs to building some.

Unfortunately we've run out of money. If any of you could see fit to providing us with some advance funds from our monthly support budget it would be very appreciated.

I don't mean to complain but we've been active for a month and a half now and we've received one soldier.....one. This is insufficient. If there hadn't been such a large gap in between combat missions I would not have been able to field a full load on the Raider. Please step up recruitment.

Update Report

The most interesting aerial battle of the war yet.  Another fighter appeared over Ilyria and we moved to intercept.  It chose not to engage us and despite damaging it both Raptor Fighters ran out of fuel before they could do more than minimal damage.  It then moved to Neo-Antarctica and landed.  I deployed Raider 1 to recover it.  To everyones surprise as Raider 1 was preparing to land the UFO launched and attacked it.  I immediately ordered it to Return to Base and launched both Raptors with minimal fuel to engage it.  They attacked and it retreated but they were low on fuel and unable to chase it far.  We can confirm it left the atmosphere.  Raider 1 should be repaired in a few days.

Combat Notes:  Our missiles do not seem accurate enough or powerful enough to tackle the alien craft.  All our kills and almost all our damage have come from Cannons.  We will correct this problem as soon as it is feasible.

Update Report

The last 3 days have been insane.  We've detected 10 more UFOs and shot down 5 at the cost of Raptor 3 (with it's Advanced Cannon).  We've conducted 4 ground raids of landed and downed UFOs.  All succeeded but at horrible costs.  The Desert Spirit was eliminated when surrounded by 4 enemies inside an enemy UFO and attacked.  We now have only 2 soldiers available for combat duty and no support vehicles.

The engineers are working on a twin barreled tank but it will be a few weeks before it's done.  Our rifles are ineffective.  I'm installing new workshops but I need more production capacity NOW!!!  There are two downed UFOs in Illyria but we don't have the forces to deal with the crash sites.  I'd suggest we need another squad but I can't keep even one manned.

On the bright side the dissection of the larva led to the idea of a new chemical grenade which we're working on and we're also working on a new craft missile system.  However if this wave of activity is the precursor to larger ships arriving the CAF will be unable to provide more than a token resistance.

Update Report

Another wave of a Scout and a Fighter. We downed both and I sent my squad of now 3 to hit the smaller Scout. We succeeded but the cost was high. Two of my men went down to enemy fire and need to be rebuilt. The lone survivor deserves 5 medals. He completed the Mission with wounds to every body part (critical wounds in 3 areas). I now have no combat troops.

SEND MORE TROOPS!!!!!!!

Update Report

Following the defection of two nations of the League I sent all our healthy troops on at attack to recover it. The mission ended in disastar and our ability to contest the aliens on the ground is gone for now. Compounding the defeat we lost 2 Raptors in an attempt to down a Cruiser snooping near our base. I am left with a single fighter and we need more cash. The budget you gave me to begin this month wasn't enough to bring us out of the red and I can't replace my Raiding force.

All of you are cutting funding. STOP IT!!!!!!!!!!

Update Report

It is with sorrow that I report to you that the war is lost. Our final Raptor went down and our strike capacity is nil. We have no money to replenish it and your donations do not cope with basic upkeep.

I hereby resign. All personnel have been laid off. I am absconding with those troops who wish to remain loyal to the CAF and taking the stockpile. We are going underground to prepare resistance against the inevitable occupation. Don't try to find us. I would ask you to continue the fight but if you aren't willing to devote your money to the cause I have my doubts about your willingness to spill blood for it.

So I say to the honored representatives of the nations of Esperanza, the esteemed parliaments and sovereign congresses of this planet:

FUCK YOU!!!!!!!

Just from reading AARs, without having played yet (still downloading), it would seem that constructing a second base fairly early on might have been a mistake.
Mmhh... looks like I will finally gain *some* benefits from studying economics...[;)]

This is indeed a very good AAR, though. Very atmospherical.

My mistake was build 2 labs and 2 workshops right off the bat, my soldiers had great tech weapons and armour, and my ships were advanced, but i couldnt pay the wages of my 30-40 scientists and my 40 technicians. Seems their is an art to expanding quickly, but balanceing wages of techies and the lab guys.

Similar to the original poster, I put a base on the other side of the planet to extend my detection range but frankly there's not much to detect there. There's a lot more ocean on the opposite side of the planet so there's not much a UFO can land on to do the things that aliens do.

I would think spoils of war would pay for a lot of things. Are you selling excess recovery items?
