surrender option in PBEM?

So I was playing a PBEM game...

I accidentally hit a keyboard key on the left side of the keyboard. A pop-up box asked me "[Do you really want to surrender?]". I said no and went back to my PBEM game.

I figured I hit the 's' key. But apparently the 'S' key does not popup a surrender option.

I assumed 'surrender' in PBEM was a feature similar to 'close combat's' "offer truce".

I searched the PzC:K manual for 'surrender' and only found the automatic surrender of individual troops (like automatic routing/ 'breaking').

Is there a surrender option (like in close combat) for PBEM? What key? If not what happened then, when I hit that key that popped up the surrender box? (A non-complete feature?) What key did I hit?

I think the Q key is a surrender key.
