Successful Side Shots

It is important to get side shots to increase your kill percentage. It’s not just a matter of targeting the side of an enemy tank. You have to know when is the best time to try a side shot. And that is during the Reaction phase. This is because the facing of a tank is most likely to change during the Orders phase. When human player or the AI realizes his tank is side on to your guns. He will most likely order facing or movement and pivot toward your gun.

But during the Reaction phase both AI and human players seem to get tunnel vision and don’t change their facing. They proceed with their orders even though there are yellow target rubber-bands drawn on their tank’s sides.

This caution when changing to new target during the reaction phase. If you change targets in the Reaction phase your tank or gun will go back to following its orders during the next Orders phase and will not be locked on to the new target you gave it during Reaction phase. If you want to continue firing at that new target your will have to give it an Engage>Fire order.
