True representation: Infantry

A brand new campaign-based 3D tactical engine covering combat in World War II, from the developers at Koios Works. The first operation covered is the famous "Wintergewitter" or Winter Storm, a desperate attempt by Hoth's 57th Panzer Korps to break through to the encircled 6th Armee at Stalingrad and the Soviet counter-attack by 2nd Guards Army that drove them back.

True representation: Infantry

Hello,

I read in the manual that you can edit the infantry units to have the game represent up to ten men. How do I make this happen during the campaign.

This is one of the best games in the market. I am a close combat fan and would love to see if Panzer Command can be tweaked to represent real squads like CC.

I know this is a platoon level game. It would be nice to be able to do this.

You can change the settings so there are more infantry models.   The maximum I found is 5 instead of the usual 3 sprites.  They are rather close together so 10 would look like a huddle.

What you can do is edit or make up your own units and vehicles.   It is fairly easy once you learn the format.  I made up my own Maus to fight other units not used in WS.  (Of course I don't have models of these so I used the generic models or substituted other models.)   I had a battle today of 36 Soviet tanks vs. one Maus.

I made mod xmls for AT rifle grenades and gave them to xml mods of fallschrimjagers and tankodesantniki. But for this battle I use the German Rifle 1945 which has the good Panzerfaust. (I also had about 25 squads of Russians and about 10 squads of Germans in said battle but once the Maus was ko'd I ended the game.)

The battle doesn't look so hot as I use the default generic PzIIIJs for Soviets T34/85s and JSII models (I guess could of at least of used T34/76s). And I used John Sestan's Panther mod as the Maus. I'll change the models to something else as couldn't tell the different Russian tanks apart.

All the xml for the guns are included for these except the 75mm/L36.5. I couldn't find any data on this so I gave it about the same power as the US M3.

why dont infantry sneak or crawl when under fire.  they walk like there nothing happening.  this is during a MG team firing in their direction.

whats the best way to take out AT guns?

whats the best approach on a village?

Is there a way to make game more squad based?

how do give my tank leader an order so that its ony to his tank?

how do you use air unit?

I think they do. They seem to go to ground when suppressed.
They don't actually crawl to move forward. That seems gamey to me. At least on the squad scale. There's a lot of map to cover and you aren't going to get far crawling.
whats the best way to take out AT guns?
If you can target them fire AP ammo at them. If infantry can get close fire AT rifles or even under 100m infantry rifle fire. If you can't target them but know approximately where they are Area fire HE on them. But that takes a while and doesn't always get them.
whats the best approach on a village?
Under cover? Or with tanks. Only infantry hide in houses so bring tanks.
Is there a way to make game more squad based?
It is squad based. That is the basic unit. Doctrine is be aware two levels down and command one level down. If the player is suppose to be the company commander he gives orders to the platoon level. As far as the CO knows is this or that squad is moving or fighting. (He has to know his orders are being followed.) Not to the level that he knows pvt. Fritz is crawling 12 meters with his hand clutching a grenade.
how do give my tank leader an order so that its ony to his tank?
First you click on the leader of the platoon and give it orders. Then click on each tank you want to make a variation on those orders and do them. If you go back and change the order type of the platoon leader all the other suboders will be lost.
how do you use air unit?
They attack on their own. I rather use the points for things that I can command so I don't buy them unless I have extra points.
