Problem with Victory gauge?

A brand new campaign-based 3D tactical engine covering combat in World War II, from the developers at Koios Works. The first operation covered is the famous "Wintergewitter" or Winter Storm, a desperate attempt by Hoth's 57th Panzer Korps to break through to the encircled 6th Armee at Stalingrad and the Soviet counter-attack by 2nd Guards Army that drove them back.

Problem with Victory gauge?

Post by Hidde »

First I want to say that I think this is a very fine game.
Keeping me inside my devilshly hot apartment when I should be outside in the fine summer
weather[8D]
Hovever, I have a question.
I was playing the first scenario and had come to turn 10.
During the turn I knocked out 3 russian tanks without any casualties whatsoever of my own.
I studied the victory gauge as I ended the turn. Imagine my surprise when the russian meter
went up but mine were standing still!
As I understand it my meter is supposed to get higher when I am gaining points.
Have I missunderstood this or is there something odd going on?

I may be wrong, but I think the gauge will go down when you capture the target area's ( little red flags ), then you will see a great climb in the German gauge..

No, if you destroyed enemy tanks, your VP bar should have gone up. The only think that would cause it to go down is if you held an objective and then lost it. Is there any chance that you moved units away from an objective that turn and the flag changed back to the other side?

Thanks for your answers but I might have to clearify:
My VP bar stood still. The enemy VP bar went up. I had no losses. The enemy lost 3 tanks.
However, I'm not absolutly sure about the victory flags though I don't think I
owned any at the time.
At the same time when I compare the losses for me and the enemy in total and then compare
the VP bars it seems ok. Do you gain different amount of VP depending on what sort of enemy
target(vehicle,squad or gun)you destroy?

I think I know what happened. If the original defender holds on to flags for a certain amount of time then he starts to get more VP's every turn. So even though you killed some of his tanks he got more VP's because you had not taken any flags yet.

This is a feature of the game so that the attacker must move aggressively to take the flags and not just sit at a distance and kill troops then move to take undefended locations.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty & well preserved body,
but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming "WOW, what a ride!"

The feature you mention starts with turn 15 as I recall. This happend during turn 10.

Maybe I have an explantion. It could have been that I owned a victory flag for a short time.
After all there was fighting around two of the flags. Then in turn 10 I killed 3 tanks at the same time as the soviets retook the flag. That canceled out my points and gave points back to the soviets for the flag.
Make sense?

Yes, that could explain it. If you didn't realize that you'd briefly controlled it, that would result in that sort of point swing.
