Cannot run the game

Post by m5000.2006 »

Hi,

I've just bought Panzer Command (download) and can't make it run. When I try to run it, I get this error message:

PCOWS.exe - Common Language Runtime Debugging Services Application has generated an exception that could not be handled. Process id=0x9b0 (2480), Thread id=0x9bc (2492). Click OK to terminate the application. Click CANCEL to debug the application.

I didn't install the NET Framework or DirectX included within the game download because I already have NET Framework 1.1 and DirectX 9.0c installed. In fact, I have versions 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0 of NET Framework installed on my computer and they are updated to the latest versions via the internet Microsoft update.

What shall I do? Help!

Regards,

M

OK, it seems I've solved the problem by installing the game's NET Framework and DirectX, but I had to first uninstall my NET Framework because otherwise the game's NET Framework wouldn't install.

I must admit that this game IS a bit fussy...

Chances are what you were missing was the Managed DirectX component that's included in the game's DirectX installer. I doubt the un/reinstallation of your .NET framework is waht resolved it. When we say those components are "required" in the installer, we really mean it! [:)] Glad to hear it's working for you now.
