The Panther has Landed!

Post by Laryngoscope »

For firefox get it here:

http://www.esnips.com/doc/ae78701c-5aba-4f3e-8273-ab6960862bab/PzKpfwVG.zip

If using IE, scroll down and click on the zip.

It comes with a short but fun scenario 'Operation Konrad' so as to put the Panther in a correct historical context.

Enjoy and please read the readme.txt for further info.

I almost turned off the computer and went to bed. Lucky me.

Looks great. Animation is cool too. Turret movement was smooth and logical.

Can't wait to see it in gelb with camo.

BTW, my zip program doesn't extract a "folder". I had to create a folder first and extract the pathed goodies into it. Then the xml and the scenario into their places.

I will not comment on the particulars of Operation Konrad so as not to spoil it for others, but I will say that aspects of it struck me as particularly evil.

To all those who downloaded the panther could you please let me know if you had any performance or graphics issues. If you did let me know what sort of rig you are running.

I think the PCOWS engine can be pushed harder, which would mean in the future even better models.

Cheers

I saw no degradation in performance with the Panther at all.

I suspect that the developers low-balled the specs on some of the graphics so that folks with less capable machines could play the game.

With those points made, I'd like to see the following for those of us who have the gear to enjoy it:

larger maps
higher polygon-count objects
peristant smoke and fire effects

Graphics aren't everything, but they can add a lot to the atmosphere of the game.

The Panther is marvelous, 'Scope!

Thanks,

No problems here either - IMHO it's one of the better looking vehicles in the game. Outstanding job, particularly for your first. I'm extremely pleased with it.

We could push things more, but PoE is right that we wanted to make sure that customers with specs on the low end will still be able to get a reasonable play experience, and our low end is fairly low for a recent 3D game.

Larger maps and persistent smoke and fire effects are in our plans. Higher poly objects will naturally happen as we feel more comfortable raising the minimum specs.

Hello,

Just picked up the game today and it looks interesting. I checked for updates and mods and found this post. The Panther greatly interests me so I thought I download it and give it a try.

Unfortunately, when I try to download your Panther (Firefox) I get the following error:

Broken Link

The link you clicked on is not complete.

If you clicked a link within an e-mail message, please verify that the link was not broken in the middle.
If it is broken, copy and paste the entire link into your browser.

Are there any other links to your Panther?

Thanks...

Laryngoscope is either at work or sleeping at the moment. Check back later.

Meanwhile, it might be included in one of the patches with his campaign that features the Panther.

It should come standard with the latest PCOWS patch.

Thanks...I see your Panther and some other nice units that don't have the supporting graphics yet. Hopefully those will be worked on in the future...hint, hint.

I hadn't installed the patch yet because I wasn't sure it would even run on my laptop. Oddly enough it runs well except for the German side of the Winter campaign...it crashes the program out. I can play the Russian without problem.

Thanks again.
