New Update v 4.6.276 is available

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Hi,

I bought the HTTR expansion recently and installed the last official patch (4.6.263). I also downloaded the .270 (but not installed yet). Which of these, including the latest (.274), should I use to avoid any problems for HTTR? I'm not very keen on using the Mapmaker to convert all maps as it seems to take a long time to do. Are new improvements and tools (like supply route display) worth the trouble?

You might want to read over this thread:
fb.asp?m=3561460

It appears some folks have problems with HTTR scenarios if they install any beta patches past the last official. But some others are able to play the HTTR scenarios - though some of the scenarios take a long time to load.

I think Dave has said it has to do with the map data not being updated for HTTR scenarios until the patch is read to be made official.

Thanks
Rick

Thanks, I had already read it. But I was wondering if there was specific patch not suited for HTTR. I may wait a bit if an official patch is due to be released soon. Otherwise I may take a chance with .274.

I'm working on a custom map and scenario that doesn't load efficiently with each Beta patch release.

Since I need to make sure the work is compatible with the current CO engine, I've opened the map in MapMaker, and recompiled it with each release.

Following that, the map loads as expected.

If you have particular Non BftB scenarios you wish to play, the same process could be used to recompile the maps used in those scenarios and saving the recompiled map on top of the original map name.

I'm running Win 7 Home Premium on a 1080 by 1920 screen.

It's buyer beware whether this works for other system configurations.

Take care,

jim

How long does it take to recompile your map?

The recompilation time depends on the map size. On my system, it can take as long as 10 minutes on larger maps, such as Maas am Rhein (more than 4,000 KB of data converted).
Take care,

Ok, thanks. Not a big deal, I'll convert those that I'll play, if it's necessary.

I am using the .264 official patch still. I might try to use that. Works with httr and is without the issues the beta patches have.

you can grab it here if u need it: https://www.dropbox.com/s/294bvbq7hkgim ... 64beta.exe

Until today Battles from the Bulge worked fine. Today I downloaded correctly patch 6.274 of COBFTB from the Community site but when I tried to launch it from the desktop icon, programs list or exe icon in the game file in the hard disk I got the following message:
"The procedure entry point_except_handler4_common could not be located in the dynamic link library mscrt.dll." Can't make heads or tails of it.
So I TWICE uninstalled and reinstalled the game from the DVD disks I received when I bought it and it still gives me the same message when I try to launch it.
When I call up the tutorial or the update handle, they both work, instead.
What can I do to fix this?
Thank you.

We're looking into this. At the moment we think its an incompatible dll issue. But our tests so far are not conclusive. We are working on this.

Are you running Windows XP?

WARNING If you have an XP machine please refrain from using the beta builds till we sort this out.

I'm on Windows XP SP3. OK, won't use Betas. Right now the game is installed with no updates at all. Just what's on the DVDs. But it still gives that strange message and won't launch.

Ginetto,

can you try the instructions here?

I think the culprit files - installed along 274 - are still hanging out on the install directory.

Hi, Bletchley.
Problem solved. Everything works. Reinstalled HTTR and Greece. Waiting for patch 275.
Thank you very much.
I think that when I uninstalled the games after the problem cropped up, I should have gone back to the game file and seen if anything had been left over to delete manually. Sometimes the uninstallation engines don't clean up completely.
Anyway, thanks again.

Wondering if this new patch will be put up on the ftp site as I (and I think many others) never seem able to get into the members site, even knowing the member name and password, generally get a circular pattern of being asked to enter it or submit a request for your information that when it comes is the same as we already had been trying lol.

Hi Nav,

Normally we dont put betas on the FTP. We were doing that because of the issues some of you were having. If you are still having that issue i need to know about it so i can fix it. If so i will fix the problem and make the beta available on the FTP for you. Let me know if it dosen't work for you.

Downloaded and installed 4.6.276.

Received confirmation of successful installation, however when I launch the program it seems the version is still 4.6.274.

I have clarified what happened.

I have two versions of Command Ops on my computer: v.4.6.274 and v.4.3.249.

I downloaded v.4.6.276 in the correct folder v.4.6.274; however, when I launched v.4.6.276 it has automatically adjourned the folder v.4.3.249, which was the latest installed.

I don't know exactly what to do, but I realize this is just a problem of mine.

I'm sorry to have given a faulse allarm!

But still what is wrong that the file is now twice as big as the other betas?

Maybe it includes more? Perhaps update scenarios etc? Just a guess.
