Just a quick note on how I will be issuing new orders during the game.

In the Game Manual there is a small table, that probably no one ever takes any notice of.
It is the standard reassessment times that the formation HQ's will issue new orders to their subordinates, based on the current tactical situation.

Although I won't be allowing the AI to take control of formations the size of Corps or Divisions, and probably only rarely Regiment, I will be using this table as a guide as to when I will be allowed to change the orders for that size formation.

For example if I have stated in the Corps orders for 12VG Division to take Losheimergraben, by day 3, I would not be able to then change it to say Bucholz Station, until the 24 hour reassessment time period from issuing the orders had passed.
However if after 24 hours had passed, it looked like they where not going to take Losheimergraben, as opposition was too strong.
I would then be able to give them a new order to take Bucholz Station instead, even though in the initial orders I had stated that they had 3 days to take it.

1SS Pz Korps orders to 12VG
Sorry about any inconsistencies in the orders format.
I'm still trying to feel my way through it at the moment.
I have a book that has German orders during the defence of Moscow, that I am trying to follow, but I can't really make out what the standard format is as its a bit random.

I'm going to wait for the next patch to come out before starting the battle.
It should be out very soon now. Maybe even before Christmas.
There is no better way to test a new patch than to write an AAR for it [;)]

Tremendous. Shame (in the context of that rousing defensive song) that they're actually invading a foreign country....Watch out for those guys at Bucholz Station - that's all I can say. I've seen a few units around there hold everything up for hours on end...but you know that. You are nothing if not well prepared!

It was actually written in 1840, and referred to the crisis at the time with the threat coming from France.
Hitler used it as the code word for the operation as it was part of his deception plan to make the offensive sound more defensive in nature.
This operation is a case of the best form of defence is attack.
This is not an invasion of a foreign land per se, they did that in 1940, this is purely a battle for survival, as their back are truly up against the ropes (or the river[:'(] at this stage of the war

Bucholz Station, my first major objective. Ill be sure to pay it my fullest attention [;)]

I sympathise with your dilemma, Daz. But it IS a foreign country (the one I live in) and I'm rooting for the AI. I've already passed your detailed plans to Panther Central.

Hard to believe France ever actually threatened anyone in Europe, is it not? Even harder to think they got as far as Smolensk...

Well I'm also rooting for the AI, as I live in the country that was next on their list [:'(]
However I don't think the AI stands a chance against General Daz, so just be thankful for the fact he want borne in Germany in 1910 [:D]

Daz,

Thanks again for the info - I have copied some of your slides into the deck I'm doing for my attack. I certainly have not gone into the detail you have - it is impressive how much info you have on this. I'm trying to do this without reading too much of your AAR as I want to try my plan. However, I was trying to quantify how much I would have to exit and luckily you had some great info. Also, you mentioned the timing for the exits, which I had not noticed. I assumed that the southern exits were open to the end - that would have been a really sad surprise....

Thanks for the attachment as well.

The info that you have in this AAR is awesome. Well done and thanks for all the help.

Have a great day!
Mike
