The zip file should contain a Read Me, one map file ( .aam ) and two scenario files ( .aas ). Drop the map file into your Maps directory and the two scenario files into the Scenarios directory. The run the game as normal. You should see the two scenarios in the scenario list. Select the desired one and away you go.

Open the map in MM, and construct the cache file? Some of the downloads haven't included this as it the the bulkiest file and contains easily recompilable info.

Ensure the patch is correctly applied, often these may use Estab data added during the patches and will crash on earlier versions. Very, very old ones may have been broken during a patch and need minor 'repairs'.

Sad to say.. While Africa scenarios looks fantastic. I dont see a way to bite it without properly working "direct fire order".
Key thing on the desert. You just cant rely only on AI, when laying fire on such open aera..

And what do you think is wrong with the current "Fire" order?

Youre sounding like youve missed the whole "Direct fire order" discusion (that you were involed in also).
Anyway.. You were sounding like it even back than, when "on the topic".
Ive leaved it, because I had realized that you were not fealing comfortable in it. Didnt wanted to bother you to much.
Its all there..

EDIT: The prob seems to be there.. as the fire like to act on its own will. apearing one time (with the ammo loss register), than stammer itself on the same circumstances. So, I just see it at least unstable.

OK thanks for the link James. I have reread that thread and I still stand by my original comments. I have stepped through the code and noted that it does fire. Sure there will be times when it doesn't for a whole host of perfectly valid reasons - eg not deployed, no line of sight etc. In any event, we have reviewed this again for BFTB and tweaked some of the parameters. These should increase sliughtly the prob of firing but they still won't fire if they are undeployed and need to deplot to fire or if they don't have a valid line of sight.

This deal is tough as nails from a player's standpoint.

While the game is running, reports are registered regarding friendly casualties.

While no values are included, players can check for friendly KIA relative to their last look-see.

Conversely, I'm completely unaware as to how a player can EVER know what sort of damage his units did to enemies.

Hence, this ongoing concern about this particular order and its impact on game-play, or lack, thereof.

From the standpoint of what ought to be useful post-game analysis, I consider this to border on the unacceptable.
Government is the opiate of the masses.
