On line play - Why I cannot????

Hello,
I like very much COTA, and also Prince of Eckmuhl desert scenarios. By the way, I’m waiting for BFTB, I’m from Italy, euro’s falling back day after day, my copy of BFTB will be every day more expensive, but I’ll buy it, no doubt!
But now - waiting BFTB - I would prefer playing against human.
I’ve tried several times to play on line, but I wasn’t able to. Me and my opponent (thah was the host) were able to log in, and we start to chat.
But when he launches the game, it crashes. I remain alone in front of my screen. This was happen a several times, so I begin to suspect problem is mine.
I’ve disabled all my firewalls, and the game is on my desktop, the path for it is very short. I’ve had no problems playing against AI, a lot of games without crashes.
Please, is there anybody could help me??

Hi,

You should be able to test multiplayer using just your machine.

If that works then it looks like something interfering with the network connection.

How to test Multi Player locally:

* Go to the COTA directory.
* Launch game.
* Select "Host Game", enter name as "Host" and select OK
* Choose a cenario
* Now Alt-Tab and go back to the COTA directory.
* Launch a second copy of the game.
* Select "Join Game", enter name of "Client" and enter "Host Address" of 127.0.0.1, select OK
* Now Alt-Tab and go back to first copy of game.
* Select "Begin Game"
* Enter passwords in both copies of running game, use Alt-Tab to move between.
* Now you can play the game using Alt-Tab to switch from side to side.

Well, I've played against me... no problems with multiplayer with my machine.
So it is something interfering with the network connection. Any suggestion to begin?
