Manual?

Post by Althered »

Hi. I have just paid £48 for this game, both digital d/load and CD delivery.I dont like manuals on CD and i was looking forward to the actual game arriving in the post so i could dive in and start the tutorial.Horror of horrors, the box does not have a manual,no insert ,nothing! .Is this correct or have i been sent a dud box? .I cannot believe matrix send out games at such a price with no manual ,so i am hoping someone has made an error.Have others received a manual in the box? Any info appreciated.

Hi,

COTA is distributed as a Digital Express release. As such, it only comes with PDF manuals. There are two kinds of them, one with high res pic for printing, one with low res pics for reading on screen. I can understand you frustration. I printed mine double-sided, 4 pages per sheet (I call it DSDD) with a standard laser printer and bound them with a nice color front page.

There are some Matrix games distributed with printed manuals, these are the Standard edition (B&W) and the collector's edition (color). Full info in the following announce : tm.asp?m=1679330

This is clearly stated by the logo in the shop, though I reckon I couldn't find the explanation of the logos, except in the above announce.

Regards,

JeF.

Thanks for your replies, but i ain`t too happy to be honest .Ok ,i could print out the tutorial but it is spread over umpteen pages and not all the info is relevant to just that 1st particular battle .When i bought Advanced Tactics the tutorial was quite well detailed and only referred to the battle at hand,it took about 10 pages to print out .I have purchased umpteen Matrix games before and will do so in the future .However,at £48 (for a 2 year old game) i feel a bit ripped off.

ps Is it possible to minimize the game during play? I suppose it`s in the manual

It surely is.
Have a look at the bottom right of the screen. There lies the minimize buton. Note that the game continues to run minimized.

Cheers,

You won't once you start playing it - really - there's no other game like it (apart from Highway to the Reich)

Just so you know : It's not that a printed manual was left out of Conquest of the Aegean, at that point in time Matrix simply didn't have printed manuals in their CD version. IIRC Forge of Freedom was the first game to have one. But to retro-actively update all their older games with printed manuals would have been hideously expensive so only new games would get a printed manual.
