How do I get Sidi Rezegh-max.aam to work

Post by JFalk68 »

Hi everyone, I downloaded the updates to for the N. Africa scenarios and replaced the files with updated ones, they work great. I cannot however get the new map to work. How do I go about making the visibility tables for the map and getting it to work, thanks

JFalk68,
the Sidi Rezegh Max map pushes the limits of the Map Maker's brain. If you want to give it a try you may need to let it process the visibility tables for an hour or so. Same with the Map Cache.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply, I did the map cache thing and something else, both took some time and after that I was able to get the map to load :)

Thanks again!

I gave this a good try, but I had an error someplace. The scenario runs fine with the new map, but I have 2 yellow perpendicular bands along the old map limits. Other than that, everything was normal-speed and all.

I followed the instructions from the manual-except for recalculating the visibility tables. It was not in the drop down menu as the manual showed it. I assume I missed a step someplace.

Can someone give me some tips on installing this?

Can you post a screenshot of the "perpendicular bands?

You are not missing anything. Visibility tables are now calculated 'on the fly'. If you calculated movement tables you should be good to go.

FYI the Sidi Rezheg Max map was never meant to work with the clash of armour scenario.

The bands do not show on the mini map.

Good grief-my mistake. It does seem like a reasonable assumption though.

Edit: So, upon further reflection on this, if it was not meant for that scenario, I probably should not have overwritten the original scenario map after I completed the changes. [8|] If you think that is a likely factor, just let me know and don't bother with any other investigation.

Thanks for the info.

My guess is you are seeing the map cache for the original sidi rezegh map inside the stripes. Where the cache doesn't exost you are seeing the max-map (outside the stripes).

06 Maestro - Feel free to expand the scenario. Add the max map and adjust the entry locations to make the map work with the scenario.[:)]

Everything is back as it should be, so it was just a little educational tour, with no harm done.
I will give this another shot again sometime in the future-with all the other adjustments included. On the next try though, I will keep the original scenario separate. That should be educational too.[;)]
