Beda Fomm Map

Post by Prince of Eckmühl »

I used 2m elevation increments on this, and I'm not sure what effects it will have on the game: [&:]

So, I've got the OOB for this roughed-out, and I have a question...

I've got an Italian Army, the 10th under Tellera, that doesn't have enough troops to constitute an army, not even close.

And I've got a Corps, the 23rd under Bergonzoli, that doesn't have enough troops to constitute a corps, not even close.

IRREGARDLESS, will it wreck the scenario if I construct it such that these units are included to reflect the presence (on the Via Balbia) of their command and supply columns?

BTW, Beda Fomm is straight-up weird because there is so little Italian armour and infantry present, RELATIVE to the number of artillery, support and supply units available.

Because of this incongruity, I'm not sure that the CotA engine is going to be very kind to my work. ;)

In a truly stunning twist of history, the Italians have proved capable of winning the Battle of Beda Fomm:

Hi,
I'm italian, so...
1. I apologize in advance for my english
2. I'm interested in new scenarios for COTA. I'm a new player for this game, but I've a lot of experience in wargames. I like very much desert scenarios. And I like very much COTA!
3. If you have designed new scenarios, can I try them?
4. Beda fomm is very interesting. There was an old game GDW (120 series). Of course, you know it. But there... italians sometimes was able to win!
5. Strangely enough.
bye

Hi Prince of Eckmühl!
thanks, thanks, thanks a lot!
(Thanks also to Matrix and panther games, really a great game)

You did an impressive job, and also an impressive historical job. Bravo!

I don't know Comandosupremo forums, but it seems to me thay have very useful historical info.
I'm in contact with other COTA gamers in Italy (four-five, not so many), can I tell them about your scenarios?
Now I will play them. And, if you want, i'll sent to you my impressions.
Bye, ciao

Dear prince of eckmuhl,
I've tried a few of your interesting scenarios, but I've problems with some of them.
- Hellfire pass
- marsa el brega
- battleaxe
while I can play without problems beda fomm, for example.
Any idea?
The game stars regularly, but it crashes after I choose that scenarios and begin.
The version is 2.0. I've substituted original files in map directory with your files.
Thanks in advance for anything

Hi Prince of Eckmhul,
yes, the problem is surely there, but I didn't find the folder "Minefield graphics". I've just re-downloaded your zip, but it isn't there.
There are three files Map, .bmp files, but no folder.
Could you help me?

I love desert war, and desert war seems to me a strange union beetween naval-modern war (tanks fleets and so on) and World war I (minefileds and barbed wire). Without them, it lose its flavour.
Your Beda fomm is a great job, I hope to find someone who wants play it in multiplayer. But in Italy (and GMT +2) is not so easy.
bye, thanks for what you can do

Hi,
I don't know, may be I'm a little bit stupid.
I've downloaded from your signature, but I see only your scenario files, your file .txt, three .bmp files, but no minfield folder!
It seems to me quite strange, but I don't see minefield folder
Why? Any suggestions

It works! It works!
I don't know what I did, surely I've deleted all copies of the folder, except one. I've run in a different screen resolution. I've restarted several times.
And now it works!
Thanks for your help and patience! Sorry for my answers.
Now I'll go to improve my comprehension of desert war
bye
