Order Delay

Post by Sokraates »

The manual explains very well how order delay works and how is is affected by the distance to the commanding unit. But there is no explanation on the order-delay slider settings at the beginning of a scenario.

From "None" till "Realistic" it's clear. But what about "Painfully Realistic"? If "Realistic" already simulates order delay as it would occur in the real world, is "Painfully Realistic" harder than reality? Or does "Painfully Realistic" also take other factors into account, e.g. whether the commanding unit is under fire?

My take on this is that of all the choices, "painfully realistic" best represents real life command control delays.

I believe it is just additional % delay time, with no other considerations like 'HQ under fire' etc.

All orders delay takes into acount unit and commander effectiveness. This means it takes into account  fatigue, morale, training, experience etc. As simovitch said the initial setting just applies a percentage modifier to the standard orders delay calculations.

Ok, thanks. So if I understand correctly, "Painfully Realistic" is actually the most realistic option for orders delay while "Realistic" is in fact a small compromise towards playability/enjoyment. Right?
