version 2.0.70 on Cd

Post by stubby331 »

Just bought HTTR on the weekend. Great a great game....

Ive got version 2.0.70 on Cd. Question is, do I need to download any patches before I download the version 2.179 patch?

Also, Running on Win98, is it worth downloading V2.179 at all?

There are only two patches, 2.1.79 and 2.2.86. You need to install 2.1.79 before installing 2.2.86.

You need to have the same updates as your opponent in order to be able to play online. Additionally, direct connection and game launching through BattleHQ requires 2.2.86.

If you got the game from Electronics Boutique, they can probably burn you a copy of the patches if you point them to our download sites.

I believe the answers are:

No, you don't need anything before 2.1.79 (it's quite a big patch file)

Yes, worth downloading (it addresses some game play issues, regardless of OS)

Also, seriously consider subsequently patching to 2.2.86, as this addresses further gameplay issues, but you need to apply 79 first....

Thanks 33. Yup, bought it on the weekend from EB. I was very suprised to see it there at all. I hadnt realised it had been released through EB in OZ.

Will EB provide patch burning as a free service on proof of purchase?

Thanks Wodin, Been keeping an eye on developments in these parts, (My main focus is WITP). Saw it sitting on the shelf last saturday and thought "why not". I mean it would be unpatriotic not to buy it if your an Aussie wargamer.... [:D]

They certainly used to, though it's a few years since I took advantage of it. It wouldn't hurt to ask [:)].

Hi, I also purchased the game fro EB up here in Cairns. My son has broadband at uni so he D/L the patches for me (who said kids are more trouble than they are worth :) ). The game is marvelous, and as an added bonus, I seem to be able to play without the CD in the drive since patching?? Was this intentional; if so HURRAH!
