Post by Stinger22 »

Second time this has happened, random, last time playing the Arnhiem historical. Just kicked out to the desktop. Lost about 1hr. (couple of gamedays). Can't find an error log or anything.

You could try playing with the autosave option turned on. It saves every 20 minutes (wall clock; not simulated time); overwriting the same file.

First, this would help minimize your game play loss.

Second, if by reloading the save and running forward you get the CTD again, then it can be turned over to Panther for investigation.

Of course, if you have any idea of the events or actions triggering it, that would be helpful too.

So far, there has been one CTD reported in testing the upcomming patch and it has been diagnosed and corrected. However, I don't know enough about it and/or your specifics to know if it is, in fact, one in the same.

Sorry, that's the best I can offer at this time.

One other thing ...

Some players here reported getting CTD's with one of the sound mods someone made up for the game. If you are using a sound mod, then you might try going back to the original sounds.

(Also, I am assuming that you are running Version 2179. I think there were a couple of CTD issues with the initial game release on HT CPU's and also if you hit the "H" key at various times.)

Wasn't doing anything special that I recall when it happened. Will have to use the autosave I guess in the meantime.

The CTD that Mark is talking about being fixed in the patch could happen at any time. It looks like it has been there for a while, possibly back as far as AA:RDOA (I would have to get the old source and look to confirm). Very unlikely to cause a problem, but when it does, BANG...your dead in the water.

I have finished all the fixes etc for the patch, if Dave (Arjuna) gives the green light we will do the final release build tomorrow night then it will be off to Matrix to be turned into a patch. Ready by early next week I would imagine.

Now its back to working on G#@$##$...no I cant tell you, I would have to kill you afterwards [:D]

You don't have to kill them Paul, just lock them in the safe [;)]
