AAR: zeke99 (A) vs zamli (J)
RE: AAR: zeke99 (A) vs zamli (J)
Zamli is busy so I have to update
There has been little progress in the last months.
The Japs are have take a further base in Burma but took some CV damage at Calcutta.
Allied landings at Midway and Espiru Santo failed. The Japs counter attacked but got a bloody nose, BB's and CV's damaged, minor ships sunk.
All in all zamli got frustrated [:D]

RE: AAR: zeke99 (A) vs zamli (J)
the most problematic is when I have a time to write, I don't have a game and screenshots at that comp..
anyway
We had a very interesting serries of battles around Espiritu Santo. As a result many of my BB's and CV's were sent to the shipyards for long repairs. Air offensive of the Americans is the most frustrating though, not to mention constant problems with fuel supply.
As for the Japanese - I still try to have a go at Calcutta despite what I am being said, that at this stage it is impossible.
and that is the status for a while. I know, pics are required, and as the weekend is coming, maybe - as long as we have some action, because last turns were pretty quiet.

August '42
Zeke99 has made a trap for my carriers near Espiritu Santo. Two of his carrier fleets each consisting of 3 CV plus 100+ LBA's on two neighbouring islands were waiting for my KB of 5CV to make a reaction move.
Admiral Yamaguchi went straight into the trap......
Luckily his pilots were much better than his planning. During the naval battle which occurred, at the cost of damaged Akagi and one sunk destroyer, Yamaguchi's brave pilots managed to sink one Yorktown class CV plus heavily damaged 2 other CV's and 1 CVL

Must have been an exciting turn to watch! Hmm . . . a CVL in August '42? Must be British.
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

Not for me [:@]Must have been an exciting turn to watch! Hmm . . . a CVL in August '42? Must be British.
Seems I can just damage jap CV's now. [:(]
CVL is the good old HMS Hermes
At least I can state that the Jap advance is stopped since 2 months.
RE: AAR: zeke99 (A) vs zamli (J)
Americans are on the move.....
They have re-captured Midaway, just at the cost of 2BB and 1BC sunk.... [8D]
I would not mind the similar cost for every island to be retaken [:D]

HAHA [:@]
Not enough BB's to do so [:(]
At least 1 Jap Div and 1 Rgt was eliminated [:'(]
Zamli forgot to mention that his landing at Minley Bay failed to take the base [;)]
RE: AAR: zeke99 (A) vs zamli (J)
Last few weeks are very exciting [8D]
First of all - zeke has launched a multi-landing offensive near Kwajalein - on Maleojatep, Jaluit, Wojte, Tarawa, Makin (sorry for names - writing from my memory). Some succeeded, some failed. We have a constant fight in this region with zeke's forces destroying my planes and evading my surface forces.
In the meantimg I have finally managed to capture base at Milne Bay.
and...
The most important of all - I have managed to capture Calcutta base - which seemed almost impossible at the end of 1942. So battles are fought in Dacca and Calcutta with bases captured but allied forces still defending.

re Pacific
To prevent zamli from landing anywhere proved to be very costly
re Calcutta:
Bad luck, some turns ago the mighty 7thArmed was removed by the program.
When he attacked two Ind ArmedBrig's arrived with Exp = 30 and R = 19 [:@]
Therefore his attack was able too take the base. [:(]

RE: AAR: zeke99 (A) vs zamli (J)
It means that I have attacked the base at the exact time
although I did not attack it for months......
This turn will be made later as I am away from my home computer, but the results I saw this morning indicate, that I have finally managed to remove any danger from Kwajalein atoll.
Nevertheless tactic used by zeke was very difficult for me to counter and only due to his bad luck (and my little counteractions) he finally failed........... this time.

Update end 1942
The last months zamli made a bit progress in India, but nowhere else [8D]
Heavy fighting on Espiru Santo. The US and Aussi troops failed to get the base. By trying to protect their spearhead there, the Jap fleet got heaps of BB's, CA's and all CV's damaged. [:D]
Even none of the Japs did sink, it's a start [;)]

So did the Allies manage to capture any bases?

RE: AAR: zeke99 (A) vs zamli (J)
No, 3 times I tried to take Espiru [:@]
Other bases like Tarawa were taken but re-take by the Japs.
It is hard to give them air cover when all my CV's are in repair. [:(]

RE: AAR: zeke99 (A) vs zamli (J)
The year 1943 started with failed landings:
10th Jan US landing on Espiru
24th Jan Jap landing at Port Moresby
Not much activity otherwise.

Update March 1943
After all the failed landings the Aussis insisted to free their country. An Australian army corps landed in Townsville unopposed [:)] and marched to Crains. This also cuts of the supply route of the 2 Jap InfDiv (ID) in Brisbane. The Japs counter attacked in Crains withdrawing 2 ID's from Port Moresby [8D]
The next turn the US landed the ParaBrig in Tagula, again unopposed [:D] Because this is a 4 AF base now the Jap air superiority from Minley Base is contested. A landing there in the turn after failed to take the base but was able to resupply the forces fighting there.
Now the Japs have serious trouble with heaps of bases cut of supply routes and heavy ac losses. [:D]
PS:as you see, neither me nor Zamli are big writers [;)]

Well, you're doing better than Zamli at the moment. since there's about to be a major battle for local air superiority, what are the approximate air losses per turn?
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

RE: AAR: zeke99 (A) vs zamli (J)
Losses in the last 4 or so turns 500/300 Jap/A. Important zamlis lost a lot of G4's [:)]
Update
Landing in Lea failed, this time troops have been there.
My CV TF supporting the operation got into a carrier battle with Yamamoto's CV's which ended inconclusive with a lot a CV's damaged on both sides.
The attack on Crains failed to take the base [:@]

April 43 update
A landing at Espiru failed - again [:@]
The good news are:
Air superiority established over Crains and Minley.
In a sneak attack Gasmata (2) and Cape Gl.(3 AFB) taken unopposed [8D]
The 1st Marines advanced to Rabaul (6) and I hope they will take it.
Zamli has now the problem that a lot of his troops are in bases, he has no longer access to [:D]
At the same time he is pushing hard in India. We will see how long he can afford this.

An excellent question. How is his National Oil Reserve (which determines the number of PP's to activate troops)?

RE: AAR: zeke99 (A) vs zamli (J)
Looking at the score, the Jap oil reserve must be very low [8D]
Re ac losses, the are lower because the Japs pulled back, 150/70 in the last turn, but still over 2/1 ratio [:)]
