attacking task forces?

Post by beserko »

Anybody figure out how to attack task forces ala Midway?
I can attack a base close to the target which works for air combat with the move set to 3 or more but what about battle groups set to 0?
I chased a damaged carrier group 1/4 of the way without touching plus I surrounded it with subs every turn! Arrrrggg........

BTW I'm getting closer to winning as the Japanese!

Surface Combat TF's can be set to react just as Air Combat TF's can. Like most things in PacWar, it's not 100% reliable, but I've seen it work.

Individual squadrons on board CV's can also be set to "naval interdiction", meaning they will attack nothing but enemy ships. I recommend setting TBM Avengers to NI, because their extra range frequently makes them attack bases at range 6 without fighter escort.
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

Thanks for the tip! It never occured to me to change the mission on carriers. I'm trying to channel US ships through a gauntlet around Fijji. I use my enginerrs soley to build up airbases around these islands. I think I will set up all these bases for navel interdiction.

You can also, when setting the 'move option' for your air combat TF's, set "task force" as your priority target.

Good luck, and good hunting!
