Comments requested from experienced atoll invaders

The rule about 1 Div max on an atoll and each attacking TF limited to one Division was developed on the old Pacwar mailing listing maybe 15 years ago. It did eliminate the grossly unrealistic situation where a player could have 100,000 troops on a 10 square mile atoll, making it nearly impossible to take.

I have played with the 1 Division per atoll and 1 Division max per attacking TF for a long time, but its been observed to me this is still unrealistically high. Has anyone played with lower limits?

Just looking at it, although desirable, it seems impractical. Don't know for sure, but I'm guessing there aren't enough small LCUs available to play a game this way. Splitting LCUs puts pressure on the existing problem of a limit on split LCUs. And the major portion of the split Division would take replacements, while the secondary portion would lose squads in combat and not replace them until it got down to, what is it, 46 squads or something?

Anyway, will my first thought is its impractical, I wonder if anyone has thoughts on this or perhaps some gaming experience with it.
