Yes it is difficult, just keep playing the tutorial, and eventually you hit that DUH, moment, and then it's all downhill from there.  Great game I might add, and worth the effort.  The RPG aspect is a lot of fun.

Just read the posts on the board.

I'd like to ask: would you like to try out other similar games?
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

You might want to start with this thread:

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=505209

Those files IIRC are also distributed with the free version of the game, in the Docs folder IIRC - not sure about the versions of the docs though.

Hi suicideidiot321
It took some time until you understand the difference in playing. This is a strategy game, where the right action/weapon/Titan in the right moment is more critical than the big gun at hand. I played BT, MechForce, Mechwarrior, MechCommander, Cyberstorm, TOS, Battlezone, HeavyGear, TeraNova, with lots of common:
1) assemble a team,
2) get the specialists (CC, Longrange, MR) into their best position possible and advance as squad
3) clean the suburbs from any debris: get the mission done.

In about 2k Fights I only lost 4 times. The first time I played BT it took surely 15-20 Tries until I get the "message" what to do, the timing is sometimes very important but could wait until you get the grip. I have tried fist ToS in 2001 afair and it was the best MechForce like game after a long dry period with much more features I waited for!
Try it and now it's even free!!!
Cheers

Right. The game is about maximizing on your squad strength and minimizing the risk. It is vital to know your strength and get your timing right. Of course luck is a big factor (getting your best titans head ripped of by tesla will hurt).

Forst and foremost the game is about having fun. Now for free. [8D]

MechForce... That was for Amiga in age of dinosaurs, right? Hey, you might be interested about MegaMek and MekWars. Check them out ;)
